Definition of Police State:
The term police state describes a state in which the government exercises rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population. A police state typically exhibits elements of totalitarianism and social control, and there is usually little or no distinction between the law and the exercise of political power by the executive.
The inhabitants of a police state experience restrictions on their mobility, and on their freedom to express or communicate political or other views, which are subject to police monitoring or enforcement. Political control may be exerted by means of a secret police force which operates outside the boundaries normally imposed by a constitutional republic.
How can ANYONE deny that we are living in a Police State here in the UK?

MI5 report challenges views on terrorism in Britain

MI5 has concluded that there is no easy way to identify those who become involved in terrorism in Britain, according to a classified internal research document on radicalisation seen by the Guardian.
The sophisticated analysis, based on hundreds of case studies by the security service, says there is no single pathway to violent extremism.
Alan Travis discusses the MI5 report into terrorism in Britain Link to this audio
It concludes that it is not possible to draw up a typical profile of the "British terrorist" as most are "demographically unremarkable" and simply reflect the communities in which they live.
The "restricted" MI5 report takes apart many of the common stereotypes about those involved in British terrorism.
They are mostly British nationals, not illegal immigrants and, far from being Islamist fundamentalists, most are religious novices. Nor, the analysis says, are they "mad and bad".
Those over 30 are just as likely to have a wife and children as to be loners with no ties, the research shows.
The security service also plays down the importance of radical extremist clerics, saying their influence in radicalising British terrorists has moved into the background in recent years.
The research, carried out by MI5's behavioural science unit, is based on in-depth case studies on "several hundred individuals known to be involved in, or closely associated with, violent extremist activity" ranging from fundraising to planning suicide bombings in Britain.
The main findings include:
• The majority are British nationals and the remainder, with a few exceptions, are here legally. Around half were born in the UK, with others migrating here later in life. Some of these fled traumatic experiences and oppressive regimes and claimed UK asylum, but more came to Britain to study or for family or economic reasons and became radicalised many years after arriving.
• Far from being religious zealots, a large number of those involved in terrorism do not practise their faith regularly. Many lack religious literacy and could actually be regarded as religious novices. Very few have been brought up in strongly religious households, and there is a higher than average proportion of converts. Some are involved in drug-taking, drinking alcohol and visiting prostitutes. MI5 says there is evidence that a well-established religious identity actually protects against violent radicalisation.
• The "mad and bad" theory to explain why people turn to terrorism does not stand up, with no more evidence of mental illness or pathological personality traits found among British terrorists than is found in the general population.
• British-based terrorists are as ethnically diverse as the UK Muslim population, with individuals from Pakistani, Middle Eastern and Caucasian backgrounds. MI5 says assumptions cannot be made about suspects based on skin colour, ethnic heritage or nationality.
• Most UK terrorists are male, but women also play an important role. Sometimes they are aware of their husbands', brothers' or sons' activities, but do not object or try to stop them.
• While the majority are in their early to mid-20s when they become radicalised, a small but not insignificant minority first become involved in violent extremism at over the age of 30.
• Far from being lone individuals with no ties, the majority of those over 30 have steady relationships, and most have children. MI5 says this challenges the idea that terrorists are young men driven by sexual frustration and lured to "martyrdom" by the promise of beautiful virgins waiting for them in paradise. It is wrong to assume that someone with a wife and children is less likely to commit acts of terrorism.
• Those involved in British terrorism are not unintelligent or gullible, and nor are they more likely to be well-educated; their educational achievement ranges from total lack of qualifications to degree-level education. However, they are almost all employed in low-grade jobs.
The researchers conclude that the results of their work "challenge many of the stereotypes that are held about who becomes a terrorist and why".
Crucially, the research has revealed that those who become terrorists "are a diverse collection of individuals, fitting no single demographic profile, nor do they all follow a typical pathway to violent extremism".
The security service believes the terrorist groups operating in Britain today are different in many important respects both from Islamist extremist activity in other parts of the world and from historical terrorist movements such as the IRA or the Red Army Faction.
The "UK restricted" MI5 "operational briefing note", circulated within the security services in June, warns that, unless they understand the varied backgrounds of those drawn to terrorism in Britain, the security services will fail to counter their activities in the short term and fail to prevent violent radicalisation continuing in the long term.
It also concludes that the research results have important lessons for the government's programme to tackle the spread of violent extremism, underlining the need for "attractive alternatives" to terrorist involvement but also warning that traditional law enforcement tactics could backfire if handled badly or used against people who are not seen as legitimate targets.
The MI5 authors stress that the most pressing current threat is from Islamist extremist groups who justify the use of violence "in defence of Islam", but that there are also violent extremists involved in non-Islamist movements.
They say that they are concerned with those who use violence or actively support the use of violence and not those who simply hold politically extreme views.

Typical Labour, they want the UK Police State on the cheap and don't want to spend too much money they could be giving to bankers on training up new police officers.
The sad thing is there will be an army of idiots out there who will be more than happy to sign up to this.

This is unreal. I thought it would just be the store security guard & bouncer type character they'd be looking to recruit.
I've commented before that we could use a few criminals on our side when things get dirty - looks like the opposition have the same idea. The ones who aren't bright enough to be CP grads can be the Secret Police.

the only way to stop this bullshit is informed dissention,
if they ask you to get an ID card refuse one,
if they challenge you in the street for talking pictures or looking "dodgy" in a public place defy them,
sooner or later it wont just be happening "in the news" it will be happening to you in person and when it does be prepared to make a stand and know your legal rights

Like all Government productions, it is extremely long, although the text tends to be quite big. The document is 176 pages long, and I'll try and find the juicy bits as I read through it.
I've just read through it. It's the sort of thing I've seen in other official documents over the last few years. The specific proposals in the leaked draft making us all extremists
The Radical Middle Way project is mentioned several times in the document. It is given as an example of the government's 'success', whatever that means.
"CLG and FCO continue to support the Radical Middle Way series of scholars’ roadshows and events in the UK and overseas." [p. 88]
"Separately, organisations such as Radical Middle Way, an established Government partner organisation, are promoting debate within UK Muslim communities, and using the internet to reach audiences in the UK and overseas." [p. 95]
And:
"We support visits by Islamic scholars to Britain [but not Shaykh Qaradawi] and other countries; we fund The Radical Middle Way programme..." [p. 96]
http://security.homeoffice.gov.uk/news-publications/publication-search/general/HO_Contest_strategy.pdf?view=Binary
Contest 2 claims “The FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) is undertaking a major programme of foreign policy outreach to domestic Muslim communities. Led by the Foreign Secretary, ‘Bringing Foreign Policy Back Home’ [very Bob Dylan] is a campaign to debate and explain foreign policies to challenging audiences.” I look forward to hearing the FCO “explain” the million+ dead in Iraq due to sanctions/war, the disaster that is Afghanistan, their support for torture and rendition and Bush, their uncritical backing of the Israeli government’s assault on Lebanon and Gaza, etc etc etc
"CONTEST 2" and ThoughtCrime
In a speech last October, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith declared her intention to "revise our own counter-terrorism strategy, known as CONTEST" in order to enable the Home Office to "be more sophisticated in how we engage openly with the public on our work to counter the threat of terrorism." The spirit of the revised strategy, she insisted, was one of "openness and accountability" in which the government would be "working with and through communities" as well as providing "safeguards" which would "provide a solid legal framework which protects civil liberties."
As ever, though, rhetoric and reality do not appear to match up. The Guardian recently revealed that the proposals contained in a leaked draft of the new "CONTEST 2" strategy would "widen the definition of extremists to those who hold views that clash with what the government defines as shared British values." More specifically, people will be considered "extremist" - and thus "sidelined and denied public funds" - if;
• They advocate a caliphate, a pan-Islamic state encompassing many countries.
• They promote Sharia law.
• They believe in jihad, or armed resistance, anywhere in the world. This would include armed resistance by Palestinians against the Israeli military.
• They argue that Islam bans homosexuality and that it is a sin against Allah.
• They fail to condemn the killing of British soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan.
However reasonable it may seem to some at a first glance, these proposals essentially offer the government a way to put ThoughtCrime into the legislature. These points do not cover acts of terror or attrocities, but mere thoughts and beliefs, even if not put into action. I would strongly condemn the view that homosexuality is a sin that should be banned, whether by Islamists or by the numerous Christian fundamentalists holding the same view, whom the code does not wish to take into account. I also stand in opposition to Sharia law and the idea of a pan-Islamic caliphate. However, I would suggest that if we are to fully preserve liberty it must include the right to hold and voice such views. It is dangerous to begin defining which views are acceptable and which are not, especially when it is those in positions of power who draft up those definitions.
Although The Guardian report states that "those considered extreme would not be targeted by the criminal law," there already exist precedents for doing exactly that. The case of the "lyrical terrorist" last June, though eventually overturned, demonstrates the governments willingness to lock people up for nothing more than words, whilst the "extremism toolkit" for schools which came out in October essentially advocates politicisation of education to promote government-defined "values." With the proposals presented in the new code, defined by Ms Smith's declared will to identify "radicalisation and radicalisers" and "tackle them effectively" using the "ability to intercept communications and obtain communications data," it would appear that the government is well positioned to fully realise that precedent.
The implications of such would be wide-ranging. Inayat Bunglawala, head of Engage, a charity aimed at getting Muslims to participate in politics, noted that the code "would alienate the majority of the British Muslim public" and make it easier to "class most Muslims as extremists." An article for UK Indymedia also noted that "such policy would play into the hands of the far right" because "there are no equivalent policies aimed at those who promote hatred and intolerance towards non-white people, promote virulent xenophobia, imperialism and wars to secure resources, and fail to condemn the killing of innocent people in foreign countries."
However, Muslims are not the only group who face being on the receiving end of this legislation. The notion that those "who hold views that clash with what the government defines as shared British values" could be classed as extremists means that any dissenters, but particularly the radical left, could fall victim to its remit. Not only are we to be labeled "extreme" for not sharing the views of the ruling party, we are to face the same label if we dare to support the right of self-determination and freedom from tyranny and imperialism for all peoples around the world.
The fact that, by the definitions of CONTEST 2, George Orwell - the man who popularised the notion of ThoughtCrime - would be labelled an extremist, for supporting armed resistance against Franco in Spain and against the Nazis in World War II, is a sign of just how far we have travelled down the road to totalitarianism.

The inception of the Gestapo, police acting outside of any civil authority, highlighted the Nazis' intention to use powerful, coercive means to directly control German society. An army, estimated to be of about 100,000, spies and informants operated throughout Germany, reporting to Nazi officials the activities of any critics or dissenters.[citation needed] Most ordinary Germans, happy with the improving economy and better standard of living, remained obedient and quiet, but many political opponents, especially[citation needed] communists and Marxist or international socialists, were reported by omnipresent eavesdropping spies and put in prison camps where many were tortured and killed. It is estimated that tens of thousands of political victims died or disappeared in the first few years of Nazi rule.
Between 1933 and 1945 more than 3 million Germans had been in concentration camps or prison for political reasons. Tens of thousands of Germans were killed for one or another form of resistance. Between 1933 and 1945 Special Courts killed 12,000 Germans, courts martial killed 25,000 German soldiers, and 'regular' justice killed 40,000 Germans. Many of these Germans were part of the government civil or military service, a circumstance which enabled them to engage in subversion and conspiracy while involved, marginally or significantly, in the government's policies.
Are we just going to ignore the history books?

This is what i am telling people,we are entering a very dangerous period, most people i speak to are beginning to see the picture that is emerging.
I still have to shake myself most mornings,it's hard to take in that this is really taking shape before our very eye's,i never thought i would ever see history repeating itself, not in my lifetime anyway.
Even us as a society are openly encouraged to spy upon each other.

...and what astonishes me most, is that in the 30's when the information travelled very slowly and it was all hapenning for the first time people eded being badly deceived.
TODAY THOUGH, one cannot deny that with millions of people online talking about this it is still hapenning...
by the way, on BBC's iplayer, one can view Geremy Clarksons lates shows. one of them he compared Brwon with Stalin. he ran the parallels of the IDCard implementation. On that same show his guests are Theo Pathitis and Peter Jones. When they sit down and Jeremy Clarkson starts talking to them, he points at them mentioning what nice guests are present today on his show POINTING AT THEM WITH THE FINGERS WITH THE ILLUMINATI SYMBOL (indicator and small/last fingers out while rest curled into the palm). If anyone watches this show and PAYS CLOES ATTENTION TO WHAT HE DID, I FOUND IT ABSOLUTELY REEALING of Geremy's intentions. HE IS WELL AWAKE AND HE IS TALKING TO HIS PUBLIC. Peter Jones noticed, didn't like the fingers with the illuminati sign. i am not sure if Theo noticed, if he did, he pretended he wasn't bothered or may was happy with it. time will show.
i like the Dragon's Den show. i find the millionairs there interesting people and of course i admire them for their success, and in my opinion, i believe the Scottish milionair, (his name is not coming to my mind right now) is also very aware of the going on's due to the types of businesses he tKES AND DOESN'T INVEST IN TOYS THAT MANIPULATE KIDS MINDS! pETER jONES DOES. I am on about the invention some bloke came up with of a toy embedded with a screen that allows kids to connect to the internet and play them lullaby songs, games , etc... we all know how bad the internet is and to make your child sleep to the sound of a song coming from the screen in a toy, is pure programming of the kids to DEPEND EVEN WHEN THEY GO TO REST ON tv AND internet!!!! IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I liked alot the fact the millionair denied his investm, ent into "an absoultely stupid toy" where his approximate words.
STay tuned to Jeremy Clarkson's Show because he is already talking to us. He is using the power of the media to wake us up. I recommend you to watch it if you don't, advise it to your friends , specially those who aren't awake yet. At least listening to people who are famous and in the media and want to deliver the message to us is a good idea...at least that is what i believe.
...anyone saw any of these shows??
