As an epilepsy sufferer i am interested in any new research that becomes available,a link between seizures and lack of sunlight has now been estabilshed, although more research is needed.I have been telling my doctors for many years that i have more complex seizures in the winter than in summer, last year i had more than usual.
do'es anyone have epilepsy or know of anyone that has it,and if sunlight makes them less likely to have seizures?

This does not address your specific question, but epilepsy seems to be yet another disease which can be cured by the raw food diet:

Absolute rubbish.
Epilepsy is not a cause of food.
It's a imbalance in the neurons of the brain. Flickering lights set's of epilepsy.

The natural way
The brain and nervous system do not exist in isolation, but are part of a complex group of systems that make up the human body. For this reason, it makes sense to maintain a holistic approach to health. After all, it is the body that keeps the brain supplied with oxygen and nutrients and by looking after our overall health and fitness, we can help to optimize the health and wellness of the brain and nervous system.
A healthy diet, preferably containing mostly organic ingredients, is a good place to start – as is the maintenance of a regular fitness program geared to your body needs. Pacing yourself and making time to unwind and practice stress management and relaxation techniques can also go a long way to ensuring harmony and balance in the brain and nervous system.
Natural remedies have been used for centuries to support the health of the brain and nervous system and provide a safe and effective way of maintaining wellness without the risk of side effects or toxic damage to the liver.
Passiflora (Passionflower) is widely used to support balance and harmony in the nervous system. This herb has been used to naturally support nervous system stability, with no harmful side effects! It can also be used to settle and soothe the nerves and ease minor worries. (Bourin, M., Bougerol, T., Guitton, B., and Broutin, E. “A combination of plant extracts in the treatment of outpatients with adjustment disorder with anxious mood: controlled study versus placebo”. Fundam.Clin Pharmacol 1997;11(2):127-132.)
Scuttelaria laterifolia (Skullcap) is an herbal tonic that has been traditionally used to ease non-debilitating feelings of being ‘overwhelmed’. It has well-known carminative properties, helping to support the natural equilibrium normally present in the mind and contributing to the maintenance of a healthy attitude and ‘even keel’. (Wolfson, P. and Hoffmann, D. L. “An investigation into the efficacy of Scutellaria lateriflora in healthy volunteers”. Altern Ther Health Med 2003;9(2):74-78.) Active ingredients include flavonoids, tannins, bitter, volatile oil and minerals.
Cuprum metallicum (30C) is recommended for the maintenance of balance in the electrical activity of the brain.
Cicuta virosa (30C) is a remedy with proven results for maintaining health, balance, and normal activity in the brain and nervous system.

"For those with heath problems, it is best to minimise the heavy foodssuch as nuts, avocados, and seeds, etcetera. (Seeds, apart from hemp, and nuts, apart from certain nuts, need to be soaked overnight inorder to neutralise their phytates. The phytates act asanti-nutrients, which suppress the enzymes and prevent nutrientabsorption. I think this should be realised.) A good way to consume greens is in the form of green smooties. Lookfor recipes on YouTube. The greens cannot be tasted because thedominant taste is fruit, such as mango, banana, apples, and so on.However, the smoothie will be coloured green. If he is serious about being cured then hopefully he will be willingto take the leap. I became vegan at around that age so I know what itis like to forgo the junk food and confectionary, which TPTB like tosurround vulnerable children with. It was easy for me because I foundthe thought of consuming animal body fluids so sickening. If he hatesthis malady enough, then he should have sufficient will power. – Ofcourse, not that he will really need it with all of the innovative andtasteful recipes available. Thank you all,i try to stick to a good diet,i was on meds for much of my life
last year i decided to stop them, the last one i took was epilim,it can cause liver damage and i had to had to have a blood test every month to monitor my liver function,i felt it was too big a risk to continue them,i only take fish oil now.
Boots i noted the natural remidies from your post i never heard of them,my only concern is when the ban comes in at the end of this year for natural remidies i'm stuck with nothing,it concerns my family too,but i made the decision not taks any more pharma drugs, making big bucks out of me being sick, and poisoning my other organs in the process:mad:
There is a diet available for children it's called the ketogenic diet,it has had some amazing results in childhood epilepsy, can be difficult to stick to though
everthing has to be measured and weighed,to start the diet the child has to go into hospital because they have to fast for a couple days before they begin it.There is some evidence that foods can affect epilepsy.

Testimonials:
1. Anti-Spasmodic Formula: Dr. Christopher's Anti-Spasmodic Tincture: I just received your newsletter, and in reading the information on epilepsy I found that you didn't mention your antispasmodic tincture.
I have epilepsy and have followed your program with the B & B tincture and oil of garlic and I'm sure this is effective over a period of time; but the antispasmodic tincture will stop the seizure in the process. I have used it successfully--even during home childbirth. This is a very good test, as epileptics could tell you, as childbirth always causes seizures.
I have also given the tincture to a friend for her baby. They had just spent almost $1,000 on tests and medication the "AMA Way" and were having no success in stopping the seizures. They say this tincture has changed their lives. Having experienced epileptic seizures, I know that is no exaggeration.
I have never read or heard of this tincture being used for epilepsy, but was led by the Spirit to use it. I hope this might be of help to others who are suffering. God bless you. [NL 1-4]
2. Ear & Nerve Formula: Dr. Christopher's Nervous System Formula with Black Cohosh: A boy 12 years old, was brought to me as a patient several years ago, who was having severe epileptic seizures and these had started after the child had received head injuries in an automobile accident. I have had success treating epileptic patients up to this time, by using our basics; bowel cleaning and blood purification, as well as using antispasmodic herbs. However, none of the procedures I had used over the years so successfully, worked at all with this new 12 year old patient.
One night I sat alone in my office, after all my patients had left for the day, wondering why I was not getting the results with this boy as I had with others with the same condition. I realized that I needed "help" and so I prayed earnestly that something could be done for this child and after some time of praying and meditating an "idea" for a "formula" of herbs for nerves came to my mind. I quickly wrote down: blue cohosh, black cohosh, blue vervain, scullcap, and lobelia in a 90 proof tincture. I immediately went to the lab we had out in back of the office, and made up the tincture. When this formula was given to the epileptic boy patient, there was an immediate reaction, and before long, he showed great improvement.
We found this same amazing formula would stop hiccups and was great to use by drops in the ear with oil of garlic to clear up earaches, and has even restored hearing in some cases. We called it B & B Tincture. [NL 2-11]
3. Dr. Shook Cured Epilepsy: Dr. Shook related a case wherein a young girl was brought to him with a longstanding case of epilepsy. She had suffered various injuries during her attacks. Shook made a strong decoction of Black Cohosh, blue gentian and valerian root, expecting immediate results, but the seizures continued. Shook then consulted an old herbalist, who informed him that only alcohol could extract the antispasmodic values from Black Cohosh. The parents tried the tincture, given here, and the seizures gradually decreased from up to thirty in one day to nearly none after six months. [NL 5-6] Dr. Shook's Formula consists of black cohosh, blue cohosh and blue vervain. [NL 5-6]

Iv'e had this suggested to me before,i am a member of the epilepsy foundation, research has proved there is a link between depression and epilepsy and i do suffer with the dreaded depression from time to time, that's why the light box was suggested it's supposed to help lift the depression.
There is so much ongoing research but nothing for natural remidies,i'll take a look into it now, thanks 1971.

Man, are you serious! This is incredibly important for me to have read! I just suffered an epileptic fit. Full convulsions and was rushed to hospital. I will not be officially diagnosed until I have my second seizure.
Furthermore, for years I have been wearing suntan lotion at high spf. Everyday almost of my life, 24/7. And I don't go out much in the sun even for when I wear it! This could be the cause of my seizure? But there are so many other variables that I fit.....
However, just BEFORE my epileptic fit, I was in sunlight frequently. Like all day. I went to Florida and hung out in the parks for a week or two. Of course, wearing my sun tan lotion.
I wear suntan lotion cause I enjoy pale skin and want to prevent UVA/UVB caused wrinkles.
