I think the informative aspect of TV (docs, travel, educational, factual programmes etc) has decreased and has now been outweighed by the propaganda/trash aspect which has increased massively,
I don't like how we lock on to it, my 12 month old baby was watching "in the night garden" the other day and was mesmerised by it, sat glued to the spot, never moved, hypnotised by it, adults are exactly the same when we watch it, just sit there absorbing it, no creative thought just hooked in to the live feed, its the same when playing the xbox/playstation but with added aggression,
I've also noticed increasing amounts of propaganda recently, question time, the news, films, even chav soaps often have a subtext or hidden message "don't do drugs kids or you'll die" or "your neighbour hates you, you should be afraid", "don’t think for yourself leave that to us"
adverts with subliminal messages and NLP all making you buy and consume more shyt than you would need in a hundred years
wonder what someone from 200 years ago would make of it if you showed them a picture of a family sat with their mouths open staring at a box in the corner

Mines gone - i dont miss it...anything i choose to watch is online anyway!! I watch more youtube/google vids than anything else anyway...
I dont get that knotted churning uncomfortable feeling anymore since i dont watch tv and the News especially!!
My niece is the same- the way she gets hypnotised by the night garden is weird....you cant get her to listen to you...you ask her over and over again to get her shoes on for example and its as if she cant hear you....i had to switch it off the other day at my mums to get her attention. Its not her fault but its strange waytching it- like having paul mckenna on a loop!

The good thing about the internet is that you can choose not to watch propaganda, as apposed to tv which does not give you that choice.

Nice one Lottie, Im following you soon!
Funny mentioning In the Night Garden, my boy loves it :(
I mentioned to a friend of mine yesterday how CITV isnt allowed in my house but I do let my son who is the same age as hers watch CBeebies.
She said theres no harm in letting him watch that channel. I disagreed, they go on all the time about recycling and my son and his other friend go round talking gobbledeygook, lol.
Its not funny really......:o

they all really really like it.... im not going to make a conspiracy out of it... maybe it is a really good kids programme but i no more trust a bbc production than i would Gary Glitter minding my kids. Someone poted a while ago about the night garden...cant remember what thread now but there was an article on the night garden regarding the actual storyline (hidden in plain sight) ...like i say im not goin to make a conspiracy out of it but it seems weird how all us aduts know bout the ng and all our kids are totally mesmerised and obsessed with it! My niece has her whole room done out in it...she's got pyjamas, wellies you name it!

Two weeks without TV here, don't miss it at all. Getting great pleasure from my garden, just have to find a way to keep paying the mortgage now :)

that deserves to be in the quote thread
when the tv goes on here now ..it actually feels like it is trying to enter me. i just dont watch it but my mum she just cant leave that bloody dancing on ice alone...head phones go on at that point or a i rapidly move upstairs to the pc upstairs for solice.
it is choice i suppose but after seeing the way the bbc lied about wtc7 and that panaroma 7 7 mock up that was enough to say no more for me.. if i carried on watching i would be a hypocrite and couldnt break from the grips of mind programing ..love it when di says why do you think they call it programing lol its peaceful without the tv it's calm without the tv. you save electric etc
the pros outweight the cons in my book for not watching it.
no need to watch to see what they are up to..you can find that out on the net.

yeah its totally hypnotic, it even stops her from eating her food if its on (and she is normally a greedy baby)
I dont trust the beeb as far as I could throw them, they are just Big Brothers Big Mouth, and project what the Governement tells them after all they are state funded and if that were to change?;)
Noticed how theres so much kudos associated with the size of your screen these days?
I was thinking last night how much shyt we actually own? Im not wealthy by any means but I waste so much money on crap that I just dont need, asked myself why? and I honestly dont know, does it makes my life better?
No, being with my family makes my life better, getting fresh air in the country makes my life better, new experiences and travel make my life better.....
Now its getting warmer Id rather be out and about or in the garden (not the night garden LOL) or reading a book with my sprog, and who knows? god forbid we might actually start TALKING TO EACH OTHER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGHHH

You are right to do this. I did the same recently myself and never looked back.
The thing is that even documentaries are completely unwatchable and ones like the BBC Horizon are so obviously propaganda they are almost spoofs of Government educational films at this stage.
Everybody needs to non-cooperate with media and when all these journalists and TV people are on the dole maybe then they might get it.
you can really see people change mentally and emotionally when those judging shows come on.
almost every channel, in fact i think it is every channel has some sort of judge pannel base program on it.
oh i hate him he's not even a real judge argh argh he doesnt know what he's talking about ..id smack him right in the mouth ..thats some of the coments i've heard from people who watch those shows.
makes people rant and lose it completly ..i find those kind of shows more dangerous than the propaganda brainwash that they use.
