UK PUBLIC TOLD TO SPOT AND REPORT 'TERROR PLOTTERS'

An anti-terror campaign showing members of the public how to spot possible plotters is launched by the UK's biggest police force. Metropolitan police urging public to report activity that may be 'terrorism-related'. The Metropolitan police is running a press and radio campaign urging Londoners to report suspicious activity to the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321. The campaign calls on London's 8 million residents to pay particular attention to anyone suspicious who is buying chemicals, logging on to militant websites or carrying out surveillance of prominent buildings.

Its message is "DON'T RELY ON OTHERS. IF YOU SUSPECT IT, REPORT IT."

Deputy Assistant Commissioner John McDowall, head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command and a senior national anti-terror co-ordinator said: "Terrorists can be stopped in their tracks if suspicious activity is passed to police. They will not succeed if people report something unusual they have seen while going about their daily lives.

"We want people to look out for the unusual - some activity or behaviour which strikes them as not quite right and out of place in their normal day to day lives - and to take responsibility for reporting it."

He said no piece of information would be considered "too small".

Mr McDowall said: "Terrorists live alongside us in our communities. They make their plans while doing all they can to blend in. They try to avoid raising suspicions about what they are up to."

Give-away signs include committing fraud to finance plots, buying large amounts of chemicals and studying security arrangements. He added: "I completely understand and appreciate that some people may have concerns or reservations about contacting the police - possibly they think their friends or family may find out, or they are worried that their suspicions may prove to have innocent explanations. But I can assure them that any information passed to the Anti-Terrorist Hotline is treated in the strictest of confidence. It is thoroughly analysed and researched by experienced officers before, and if, any police action is taken." (Press Association 16th March 2009).

The move comes a week after three killings by militants from breakaway factions of the IRA in Northern Ireland. In the past, the IRA and Republican splinter groups have carried out attacks on mainland Britain, as have Islamist militants.

There is a half page advert in todays Mirror showing an overflowing bin with bottles of chemicals stuck out of the top. The tag line next to it says;

"These chemicals won't be used in a bomb because a neighbour reported the dumped containers to the Anti-Terrorist-Hotline."

It then says Don't rely on others. If you suspect it, report it.
In the background there is a woman and a young child in a pram walking towards the bin, obviously intimating that this child has been saved. How can a neighbour who in all likelihood has no idea what goes into a bomb, take it upon themselves to go rummaging through other peoples property and then decide that they are up to no good. Surely that is a job for the Police.

Surely they won't be used in a bomb, because they're in the ferking bin, having been deposited there by marionette Mirror journalists!

The wankers'll be in their bleeding element when folk start delving about in each others dustbins & ringing the police with all sorts of irrelevent findings.

"Stitch each other up & be a hero" is the message.

We'd be better advised to rummage through Brown's swining brief-case if they really want us to come up with something sinister for them to investigate.

I feel quite peeved.

Typical of the elite to accuse others of what they themselves are doing. They're transparent, really.

Just looked up terrorist in the dictionary.

ter⋅ror⋅ist   /ˈtɛrərɪst/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ter-er-ist] Show IPA

2. a person who terrorizes or frightens others.
3. (formerly) a member of a political group in Russia aiming at the demoralization of the government by terror.

When people start revolting against the government in groups and by peaceful means the government is going to come out and say WE RE TERRORISTS.

You could also argue that the government are terrorists using these definitions.

Yes... the term 'Terrorist' is very hazy at best. ;)

For instance, a bunch of terrorists near me demand over £1000 in money every year. I get bugger all for my money... and they threaten to bring in a load of thugs called 'bailiffs' to enforce this mafia orgainisation called "The Council".

I believe they call this protection racket: "The Coucil Tax". :D

People need to wake up... and more importantly, learn how to ACT.

Hmm, there's someone down the road who's house I wouldn't mind, nice garden, plenty of room, he looks a bit dodgy If you ask me, I think he might be a terrorist... I'll get ready to move in once I make the call.

Edit, that was just satire if anyone was wondering.
