This evening I booked a holiday through teletext holidays to Barcelona. The airline is Ryanair traveling on 2nd April. I was informed I must inform Ryanair at least three days before traveling my passport number and expirery date!!!! Because Spanish authorities now require the information!!
I travelled to Spain on Feb 1st and didn't have to do this!! so has something changed did I miss something in the papers and what do they achieve by having my passport number 3 days before I travel?

So does this mean I don't need a passport?? I should just contact them and ask to be let in??

If you have to ask. It's not for you. However, if the country you want to visit is signed up to the hague convention. Just email the embassy and ask them what they require, for you to use the family certificate to enter adn leave their country.

It's great isn't it. Remember the days of the EU claims making passports unnecessary, freedom of movement, cross border working etc. etc. All lies.

too true. just the bait for the hook all that was.

I fear that soon you'll even need documents and permission to travel within the uk. Just like Europe under the nazi's. Welcome to the EUSSR.

And then didn't they say the new photo driving licenses could be used to travel in Europe instead of a passport? Which then turned out to be a lie. Typical behaviour as usual

I toll my aunt and my cosine about it and they both say it`s not true - his sister lives in Madrid and he travel to Madrid 3 days ago. They donīt understand anything of this - i said it might be special policy for people from the uk because the spanish goverment is tried of brits.

Looks like the next phases of E-Borders manifesting, to me.

It's one of the most troubling implimentations of recent years (imo).

Yet is getting very little coverage even on this website, and few Brits even know about it.

E-borders has been around as an idea since 2005, and this year it's moving into its first proper phase. In the next few years, it gets even as detailed to the level of Iris Scans they're hoping people will use to fast track through immigration. In short, you've got to justify to mummy why you're leaving this island, and she'll decide if "you're going out looking like that" or not.

It's not the Spanish authorities requiring your info.

It is the British government that wants to sneak this in, unnoticed (imo).

It's supposed to be Europe wide, but it won't be. Like most things, that will be said but in practice we all know that one European country has to do one thing and many others are miracolusly excused from it for no apparent reason. It will make Britain into Alcatraz.
