This is possibly not such a good thing. It means no trial, which means the other conspirators are walking free. No way he did all that by himself, and it is THE reason he plead guilty.

True. Apparently there is no mention of the where abouts of the money,

Why is it that just because money is involved he will be in prison for the rest of his life, when murders, rapists ad paedos walk free???

maybe more 'Madoffs' will come to light. I suspect there are more out there waiting to be discovered. People say Madoff's money has disappeared, I wonder were to?

Interesting times ahead....

The reason he is in prison is because he is a scape goat for our financial problems. They'll hang a few Madoffs while the heads of JPM-Chase, Goldman Sacks, Citi, and Bank of Amerika not only go free but still retain their jobs whike we fork over to them billions and billions of $$$. If you want to know why there isn't any confidence in the market it's because most all of the white collar criminals that bilked us out of trillions of $$$ are still in charge. Same bankers, same Treasury, same Federal Reserve.

But don't get caught smoking a joint on your back porch. They'll put you away breaking rocks for 5 years.

He is just a patsy.
Strange how his court appearance conincides with all the news about financial mayhem. He is being hung out to dry.
Fact - if i was a greedy corrupt person - a few million would be enough money to steal because i could never ever spend it - even if i tried. This guy allegedly stole billions over a long period of time (65 billion). WHY?

Why indeed. Where did the money go? I bet this guy was just a frontman for the real masterminds. He even said something interesting today: that he is grateful to be in court to speak about his crimes. Look at history - Lee Harvey Oswald never made it to trial. This guy pleaded guilty so there will be no trial.

Translation: he is grateful the conspirators did not have him whacked - as yet.

It's just never enough for some people (eg, Donald Trump types). Millions are not enough, billions are not enough, all the money in the world will never be enough. It's not the money that gets them off, it's the hunt. Bilking and cheating people, showing what big men they are, and living on high is what feeds their egos. Like Mr. Icke says, these people have had empathy bred out of them.

You take Citi trying to buy private jets in the middle of us bailing them out. It's not just greed, it's a way of life for them, and they are still scratching their heads as to why we would get upset about it.

I expected this but I hope this will not rest like this!
There are hundreds of the big boys involved. Clear fact!
They have to follow the money trail........
If not well we all know the story of our corrupt system, bankers & Governments.

Madoff jailed after pleading guilty

http://dynimg.rte.ie/0002230210dr.jpg
A US judge has ordered that disgraced Wall Street financier Bernard Madoff be jailed immediately after pleading guilty to a massive financial fraud.

Judge Denny Chin said Madoff should be jailed pending sentencing on June 16 on 11 charges of fraud, theft and money laundering. Madoff was led out of court in handcuffs.

Madoff pleaded guilty to 11 charges of running one of the largest financial frauds in history, embezzling billions of dollars from scores of clients.

Madoff had earlier arrived at the courthouse to be met by a horde of reporters and television cameras as he stepped out of a silver sports utility vehicle in a grey suit, appearing calm.

Pleading guilty to all 11 counts of fraud means Madoff, 70, may now face a prison term of up to 150 years, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors have said they are also seeking to recover the $177 billion that Madoff is alleged to have received from clients over two decades, some of which he then paid out to other clients to create the illusion of high investment returns.

Until today, Madoff had been on bail and living in his luxury New York apartment.

Madoff was charged with running a giant pyramid scheme that used new investors' capital to pay profits to existing clients. But while he is said to have enriched himself and those close to him, Madoff was at the same time using those stolen funds to pay steady returns to clients for many years.

When clients demanded their capital back, Madoff always obliged - at least until redemption requests accelerated last year during the Wall Street meltdown and the scheme collapsed.

No-one else has been charged, though prosecutors say the case remains open. Legal experts say the probe might turn to others, including Madoff's brother Peter, and his sons Mark and Andrew, all of whom worked closely with the disgraced investment manager

Let me make a Prediction he will be sentenced to 150 years on a tropical desert island being looked after by blonde 15 year old virgins taken away from their perants in a trumped up charge brought about by a corrupt social service's policy.

my guess is the same as yours but different.

Scapegoat or no scapegoat, truth is that he's guilty as hell and deserves life imprisonment. End of the story.
One down, we still have all the other crooks to go after.

Let me make a Prediction!

yeah and then disappear to Paraguay... perhaps living in a ranch right next door to Kenneth Lay ;)

Is it plausible that MadeOff is not the only one who made off with all that dough...its a lot of money...and its whereabouts???

Is it not possible that he is a patsy? And this was an elaborate operation by people in position of power to grab more money.

And Made Off may soon be sipping margaritas in South America somewhere while his partners count their money...

Are we supposed to beleive that the likes of Steven Spielberg got ripped of so badly...or was he added to the story to give it legitimacy..

I saw a TV bit on it...they interviewed a handful of supposed victims and every person that talked on the TV was a Dew with what seemed to be a nicely rehearsed line, (im ok at guessings someones race, but along with all the other clues...in this case they ALL had the nose which was a dead giveaway and a bit suss IMO) ...im going to get it Hally Berry style from someone now :o

Does this story belong on the crazy "news behind the news" thread..

Yes i am feeling overly suspicious of everything on TV today :D

Reminds me of Abu Grabe prison scandal.

Lets punish a couple of privates and corporals but we ll let the colonels and generals remain in charge.

Same thing with Madoff.
