I originally wrote about this on the Graham Hancock forum after reading his book Underworld, but it was deleted. Hancock seems to be making an effort to distance himself from the “lunatic fringe” and not have his name associated with “conspiracy freaks” and “occult enthusiasts”… so you can imagine I’m not the most popular member there!

Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean, but during the Ice Age it was a peninsular of the southern coast of Italy, a lush haven from the frigid tundra of Europe. The island once bore a sophisticated civilization a full millennium (according to the official story) before Egypt did. The ruins of this civilization are still there in a rich array of sophisticated megalithic temples and underground chambers. Unfortunately, what we see today is only half the story because on Malta, so much archaeological data has been “lost” due to “random vandalism” and “incompetence”. Bones and teeth that could be carbon-dated have been lost, and most obscenely, the famous stone monuments have been defaced by well-organized gangs with sledgehammers.

The Maltese archaeologist and Hancock’s contact, Anton Mifsud, suspects there’s a conspiracy to destroy evidence of the island’s past, but Hancock disagrees. He avoids the prospect of a conspiracy like the plague (as he also does in his book Supernatural when addressing the anti-drug laws.) I’m sure he is mistaken. When the 5000 year old Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire were attacked by vandals daubing them with yellow paint, it even got a mention on Crimewatch UK; right up there with the murders, rapes and aggravated robberies. Today the stones are guarded 24-7 by the National Trust. The temples of Malta could be guarded in the same way by the National Museum of Malta, but they’re not, even after the temple of Mnajdra was struck twice!

Hancock is a real open-minded researcher whom I admire deeply, but there are some places he still won’t go. He will not utter the C-word- “conspiracy” if a conspiracy came up and bit him on the arse! I’d ask him to ponder these words of George Orwell: “Who controls history controls the present. Who controls the present controls the writing of history.” An essential part of our Lords and Masters’ control over us is manipulating the way we see our past. If we change the way we see our origins we change the way we behave in the present.

GC,

I admire Graham Hancock as well. Also, I went on a trip to Malta/Cozo in 2005. The Hypogeum is absolutely undescripable.........the energy there. Did you forget about the very large skulls found on Malta that were photographed by Italian doctors or scientists and then WHOOSH! I don't know where they went. The queen was visiting in a week or so from my visit. The entire island was being scrubbed. It was all very strange. My own spirit was forever transformed and way out here for a few months. Graham Hancock had been the scheduled speaker on this retreat but he declined and instead we had Philip Gardiner author of the Serpent Grail and others. Just sharing here as Malta fascinates me.

I share your sentiments about Hancock. He has written some fantastic, ground-breaking books, but, unfortunately, he suffers from the limitation that Icke has managed to throw off - caring what other people think about him. It is in fact true of most writers/researchers and it does slow down the free-flow of truth. It is not just the C word he avoids, it is also the ET word. For years, Hancock has steadfastly refused to acknowledge that ETs could possibly have had anything to do with any of the anamolies he describes in his books. He may be right, of course, but to not even discuss the possibilities is being a little narrow-minded - or is it just playing safe? I expect the latter, because I think he has too much fear about not being taken seriously. It is a shame, because it means that what tends to happen is that researchers focus on gaining acceptance in a given field, to the detriment of looking at the wider picture, that could, and invariably does, encompass 'controversial' topics, like conspiracies. This is why I admire Icke so much, because he is the best at drawing the information from a range of research fields and going with the evidence - wherever it takes him. A real truthseeker.

I've just finished "Underworld". Near the end he again very vaguely hints about a conspiracy. He refers to damage suffered by the Yonaguni structure in 2002. An especially strong typhoon knocked a freestanding bolder off its pedastel, but Hancock just says "The offical story is..." and describes the events in the footnotes. But again he is reluctant to openly speculate into whether there is an organized conspiracy to maintain the illusion.

They must know what really happened there before history began.
