I just read one of the news reports from the telegraph.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/03/nterror1803.xml&page=1
Although information on the exact nature behind the attacks is yet to emerge, how many times have I seen it must be "Al Qaeda", this is from the telegraph report.
The revelation comes after a dramatic 24 hours in the investigation into the al-Qa'eda plots
Most experts at this stage seem to be quite measured in their response, and believe the attacks were "inspired" by Al Qaeda, and not from direct orders from Dr Evil (Bin Laden) in his cave complex.
Yet the media calls it an "Al Qaeda" plot. What dont they understand about the word "inspired"?
Media seems content to keep the myth going.

Its just makin me sick. Al Qaeda all over... Well, what else to serve us than this and satisfying the sheeple? Of course its Bin Laden's hand, he planned it all after he lost in a poker game with Bush...

and they keep going back to it because the horror is too great, people need a scapegoat to focus their fear on. the notion that terrorism is p-r-s generated by our fearless leaders is just too overwhelming for most.
scapegoating sells air time.

I remember when I was younger, if there was a bomb scare or one went off, it was always 100% without a doubt the IRA ( Irish republican Army ) according to the bullshitting media! Many innocent Irish men where incarcerated in the infamous H Block prison. These men became scapegoats but martyrs to others who knew the truth.
No one want's Terrorism, unforunatley we can't stop it. But how can we point the finger and blame some group of people without any real evidence. Even when someone is arrested and makes a confession, we don't know for sure if the confession and the facts are real!

As awful as it might sound, Al Qaeda is a brand. Lots of time, money and effort is often needed to get a brand name established on the market, and the 'market' in this case is people's belief systems. So now that they have created the Al Qaeda brand, they will often stick to it since creating a new brand is costly and time-consuming. And Osama Bin Laden is a related brand, similar to Pepsi Cola as the main brand and Pepsi MAX as a related brand. The reason why they didn't catch Osama Bin Laden was probably because that brand has tremendous value on the propaganda market, and so they want to keep Osama as a threat in order to maintain that brand.

Thats a good way to put it Anders. I think you are probably right when you say they are keeping him in order to get more value from the brand. Nicely put:)

"Doctor Evil" has become a catchphrase. It was actually the headline in yesterdays "Sun"! It saves time and money I suppose; I mean fair trials are such an inconvenience!
As far as I can tell both these plotters in London and in Glasgow have done nothing that hundreds of kids do in any town any where in the country. When a car gets burned up on a local council cul-de-sac nobody blames it on "Al-Qaida" do they? We don't need to conjour up some imaginary organized network to explain delinquency and car crime, do we?
