You may think I'm mad for owning a Samsung 50" Plasma! I do try to keep it switched off as much as possible!
However I've noticed for some time that aprox 30 mins after switching it to standby it "twitches" as if it was being turned back on!! The black screen turns grey for about 1.5 seconds. This then repeats every 30 mins or so.
Do I have a faulty teli or is it some way of cooling it down, is it something more sinister or am I paranoid!!!

try turning it off instead of going into standby, it sounds as if it might be a little flakey in standby mode, maybe a hardware problem.
I would not read anymore than that into the matter. If the unit has an internal camera or mic - they may still function when turned 'off'...use a power strip, power that off. In the end you'll be saving more power as items turned off are still getting power through the power supply.

My Samsung 50' is doing the same thing also. I thought it was an isolated standby switch fault with my plasma, but now after reading this thread obviously not. mmmmmmmm interesting
