Has anyone (with children), had the same letter as me lately?

It's from HMRC, or rather their Tax Credits Office in Preston, and reads:

"Have you been sharing your news with us?"

They're after an update on my family's financial situation so that they can adjust how much Tax Credits / Child Tax Credits we receive.

That, in itself, is not a problem.
In fact, in November last year (being the obedient little servant that I hate myself for), I called them to tell them of changes which (I knew) would affect the amount of Tax Credits we receive.

Get a load of this: They said they "couldn't accept" the information I'd given them, as they had "no way of recording it" (paper and pencil, anyone?)...and asked me to call again in a few weeks...
...and now I receive this letter that begins as if I am witholding information from them.

I have my own ideas for the content of my response letter, but I'd just like to hear from some of you (especially those who take great pleasure in this), as to what you would write to them.
Hopefully, after a few comments, I will be able to put together the mother of all responses.

Any ideas?

This may not be the best advice for YOU but I think that personally the sooner you stop receiving tax credits from these thieves the better. If you are playing in their system (i.e. receiving money from them) then you are accepting their system as fair.

Tax in does NOT equal services and benefits (including tax credits) out. They are the only winners in this little deal and the sooner we all tell them to shove it the better!!

Sorry I couldn't be more useful :D

I know, I know, but I can't just up and f**k them all off immediately: I have a family to consider.
There will come a time (soon) where I am in a position to not (need to) write to them again, but it's not now.

i have been thinking of sending a nouai + cor off with my self assesment form

it is my understanding that as a freeman i am not obliged to pay tax nor is a person obliged to pay tax to a government guilty of treason
it is my understanding that as a freeman i do pay unavoidable taxes in the form of vat , fuel tax
i claim the right to use my person to claim these taxes back in the form of tax credits
i enclose a sum of taxes listed on the attached form wich i have paid in the last year. if the amount is greater than the credits paid to my person in the form of tax credits i require the difference paid to my person no later than the first of april or intrest at my chosen rate will be added.

does any one think some thing like this might work.
tax credits are the one thing holding me back from the freeman way.
can i not put in my original nouai + cor that i reserve the right to use my person to claim back any taxes unlawfully paid to an unlawfull government?

What does the letter say exactly?

Best bet with the child tax credit gang is to just ignore them.

I was asked for money in return to them for overpayment so we told them to go to hell and haven't heard back since. They continue to pay us so meh..

Ignore and don't comply is best.

What the letter says is:

"Have you been sharing your news with us?

Tax credits are flexible and change when your life changes. We hope you have been keeping us up to date with changes in your life such as:
- the hours you work
- childcare costs
- a partner moving in or out.

If you haven't, now is a good time to tell us to avoid building up an overpayment...."

etc.

The point is, I contacted them months ago with relevant information, which they "couldn't accept".
They now send a letter to me beginning with a question that suggests I have been witholding information from them.

I'm just looking for a few choice phrases to add to my own cutting, sarcastic reply.

Heavenly Peace.

I'd leave it as is and not get involved in any discussion with them.

You tried to resolve any circumstance change and they refused to acknowledge the information you brought forward so fuck 'em.

You have done all you can.

I wouldn't write or have any kind of contact with them. If they overpay you, there is no legal architecture for them to reclaim the money back from you, other than holding back your current payments.

I just wouldn't worry too much and just keep ya head down. They couldn't organise an orgy in a knocking shop this bunch of assholes, incompetence must be rife in this organisation, much like any other government bureau or agency.
