In 2007 I came across a chilling bit of news from the UK that sent shivers down my spine.

The news was about Samina Malik, a 23-year-old cashier and poet, who was Sarrested and jailed for her violent prose and visiting terror web sites. Malik"s defenders argued that she was charged with a thought crime, while prosecutors emphasized that:

SSamina Malik was not prosecuted for writing poetry. Ms. Malik was convicted of collecting information, without reasonable excuse, of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

In short, Malik was either prosecuted for her words, or for doing research on subjects that the UK government has deemed to be inappropriate. So inappropriate, that they found it to be feasible to press charges based on newly enacted draconian laws.

If you recall, in 2003, Pete Townshend, world renowned guitarist from the English rock band The Who, was cautioned by the police Safter acknowledging a credit card access in 1999 to the Landslide website alleged to advertise child pornography.

A double dose of three of the most important topics of our time: Control of information, ending prohibition, economic freedom
1) The Pirate Bay trial - SOn January 31, 2008, Swedish prosecutors filed charges against four of the individuals behind The Pirate Bay, a torrent tracking website, for promoting other people's infringements of copyright laws". The charges are supported by a consortium of intellectual rights holders led by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), who have filed individual compensation claims against the owners of The Pirate Bay. The trial, currently ongoing in Stockholm, Sweden, started on February 16 and is scheduled to finish on March 4; it is broadcast live by Swedish public radio.

SThe defendants are Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm, Peter Sunde, who run the site; and, Carl Lundstrm, a Swedish businessman who has donated to the site. The prosecutor claims the four worked together to administer, host and develop the Web site and thereby facilitated other people's breach of copyright law. In total, 34 cases of copyright infringements are listed, of which 21 are related to music files, nine to movies and four to games. If convicted they could be liable for fines up to $188,000 USD and face up to two years in jail. In addition, claim for damages of 117 million kronor (US$13 million) have been filed.

Interesting, we should all be alert to these things, and also tell everyone you know, because if the mainstream political voters outhere think everythings not what it seems, we have a chance.

How did you get from 'a film company that spent massive amounts of time and money producing a film, that are taking action upon a copyright violation (and quite rightfully so)' to 'uk is going into martial law' ??
