.It's awful, I was only 13 and stupid when I started, now I'm 18 and I can't stand it, everything that it stands for, an Awful awful addiction.
I want to give up cold turkey, I'm thinking of fasting at the same time. I really really need to test my will power and pureify my body.
Has anyone got any tips? Is fasting a good idea when I stop smoking?
Thanks

Great questions. I'm ready to give up the habit myself, have been wasting my money on that crap for 25 years.

Yeah, we definetly should give up. How long have you been smoking andhave you tried to quit before?
I am now on my 22nd day of not smoking, i have been smoking for 20 years and have given up for one year prior to this time.
Smoking is not an easy thing to give up, the best thing to do is make a plan and stick to it (you will know when this plan is right for you).

I've been at it 24 years. I've tried to quit 12 times. I'm cranky at first which leads to folks buying me a pack just so I stop being an asshole.

I've not smoked for near enough 8 weeks after 15 years as a smoker. It gets easier after the first few days, if you look at it the right way.
Positive thinking works, there is nothing to give up.

What I did (but, bear in mind,I can stop smoking without any withdrawal symptoms beyond just being a bit fidgety for a day or so)
For a few months,I switched to chemical-free tobacco - this actually contains more nicotine, but no formaldehyde and guff.May or may not be relevant.
I stopped cold turkey, but thought it would be a good idea to burn joss sticks for a few days after, rather than hit myself between the eyes with a flat full of fresh air.Light a joss stick,or an essential oil burner, instead of a fag.
Some people start scoffing junk food, but I think that's connected to not having anything to do with your hands, suddenly.Keep busy, maybe typing is a good activity for restless digits.
Definitely,se it as a launching process toward a healthy mind and body.Knock fluoride on the head next, plant your own veggies...Set a target each day and know you're on the road to inner calm and comfort.Food additives really make you function well below par.You wont know yourself a year from now - in a good way :)
Oh! And eat plenty of sprouts,or whatever makes you poo! You'll most likely get the most horrendous constipation - that alone can make you run straight back to the fags.

Whatever they are smoking,it is pure, unadulterated by chemicals such as these:
http://www.quit-smoking-stop.com/harmful-chemicals-in-cigarettes.html
Chemicals in cigarettes and tobacco smoke make smoking harmful.
Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 different chemicals. At least 43 are known carcinogens (cause cancer in humans).
Cigarettes are one of few products which can be sold legally which can harm and even kill you over time if used as intended.
Currently there are ongoing lawsuits in the USA which aim to hold tobacco companies responsible for the effects of smoking on the health of long term smokers.
Benzene (petrol additive)
A colourless cyclic hydrocarbon obtained from coal and petroleum, used as a solvent in fuel and in chemical manufacture - and contained in cigarette smoke. It is a known carcinogen and is associated with leukaemia.
Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)
A colourless liquid, highly poisonous, used to preserve dead bodies - also found in cigarette smoke. Known to cause cancer, respiratory, skin and gastrointestinal problems.
Ammonia (toilet cleaner)
Used as a flavouring, frees nicotine from tobacco turning it into a gas, found in dry cleaning fluids.
Acetone (nail polish remover)
Fragrant volatile liquid ketone, used as a solvent, for example, nail polish remover - found in cigarette smoke.
Tar
Particulate matter drawn into lungs when you inhale on a lighted cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70 per cent of the tar in the smoke is deposited in the smoker's lungs.
Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
One of the most addictive substances known to man, a powerful and fast-acting medical and non-medical poison. This is the chemical which causes addiction.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) (car exhaust fumes)
An odourless, tasteless and poisonous gas, rapidly fatal in large amounts - it's the same gas that comes out of car exhausts and is the main gas in cigarette smoke, formed when the cigarette is lit. Others you may recognize are :
Arsenic (rat poison), Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison)
source: Health Education Authority (UK) - Lifesaver
Also, they have a good diet.Food is actually the biggest cause of cancer,I believe.

I've been smoking for about 25 years, never seriously tried to quit before.

They usually don't inhale, and smoke only for ceremonial purposes, not as a habit.

Yeah, I think everything is easier when you know others are suffering too lmao :D
I've been smoking since I was 12, probably regularly since 16 or 17. :(
eta: I'm 31 now.
