Let me make this clear.
I was born in Florida, and now living in the Netherlands.
To all people complaining about immigration, I will say this only once.
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Seriously, I am sick and fucking tired of hearing people complaining about some one from some other piece of dirt, being in "their piece of dirt"! SHUT THE FUCK UP! You're an idiot. This entire planet is OUR HOME! You can't just claim that people are not allowed to come onto a certain piece of land because "they weren't born there" or "they didn't follow the legality of it all to be there".
I mean, come on! It's just an Illuminati way of trying to get you more brainwashed and separated from our true oneness. And mostly, the main reason why people complain:
MONEY!!
Ditch the bullshit...

the irony of course is that in the distant, and not so distant past, we were all immigrants.

Think you have missed the point with your cuddly world view. No one is against a natural flow of immigrants moving from continent to continent, it has and will always happen. The problem is the mass immigration, promoted by corporations specifically to bring the US and Europe to their knees that is pissing people off. Do you think it is healthy or natural to entice 3+ million people to move here (UK) FOR FREE, on an island which has an optimal population, in terms of size and infrastructure, for 30,000,000 people?
Do you think these people would be coming here if the government weren't giving them a free life at the expense of the people that pay for the government? There are better ways of increasing the wealth of poorer countries than giving them free money and free houses in our countries that are already short of housing, giving them free eductaion when 30% refuse to learn the native language.

In an ideal world you would be 100% correct His_Lordship.
Sadly in the world of globalisation immigration has a different meaning and consequence.

I agree in theory, we're all people of the world and should be able to live where we want. However, they only encourage immigration to keep wages down, as the more people there are wanting fewer and fewer jobs, the less they have to pay the workers. It also seems to me that the media are encouraging people to feel hate against the immigrants, are they trying to provoke riots in order to bring in more 'measures' to curtail our freedoms in the long run?

I agree that people coming over for a company is wrong because it's globalization of capitalism(the new totalitarianism).
Now, if they are refugees, then of course a country of rich standards should be willing to take them in, but they need to send them back to their homes after awhile, and if the homes are destroyed, help them build new ones.
And secondly, if people are afraid of immigrants taking their jobs, then I refer you to this: http://maddox.xmission.com/hatemail.cgi?p=1#CLUETRAIN
(I can understand if you guys don't like this guy, but he makes a great point in my opinion)
And lumukanda, you're right. We are all immigrants of this planet. Well, our ancestors at least. But we all know this planet is a planet of love. We need to start acting on that.
