I'm still a bit new to this Freeman on the land concept. What I am wondering is this. Were the original citizens of American States (as sovereign states) considered Freemen-on-the-land? Did Lincoln take that away? Was American originally supposed to be a nation for Freemen-on-the land?

Am I misunderstanding the concept?

I've been also reading some articles about the original Civil flag that was under common law jurisdiction, and the military flag under maritime laws. It kind of got me thinking.

Forgive me, if this is a stupid question.

The answer to your question is partially answered by the following question ...

When did the united states of America become the United States? ... and why the change?

What is the difference between the united states of America and the United States? Why is this a significant difference?

Maybe some clues here ... http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showpost.php?p=809644&postcount=25
