There's an interesting Rolling Stone article about the decline of the record
industry stating several reasons for the decline.

Except, in my opinion, they miss the most obvious cause: crappy music.

Maybe people are waking up after all. :)

The other problem is most people wouldn't recognise 'good music' if they heard it. It's like anything else the brotherhood do, the people are to programmed and put up with what they get given to them.

:cool:They have been saying this for years. The excuse they gave a few years ago was because of Napster, but now they count downloads too.

The commercial music industry is declining and has been for years because as Graflk said, it's crappy music.

Most people in their mid to late 20's and younger inthe UK, know the reason, its because the underground dance music scene is what most people listen or dance too. i haven't bought a commercial CD or vinyl since I was 13, but have a massive collection of drum n bass and hardcore vinyl.

It's music with reason and the people who make it are average joe's who make the music because they like the music, not because some illuminati record label tells them that's what would sell.

I'm not sure why the record labels haven't cottoned onto this though, as hundreds of thousands of people go raving/socialising/dancing to underground music every weekend.

Odd!

lol makes me laugh 'drum n bass' No one plays the drums or the bass, it's not a musician.... but a nibble fingered keyboard sampler of recorded drums and bass notes onto a computer. If that's what you like to listen to fine.

There is some truth about downloads, some can't afford to buy cd's in the shops. Others with money would rather get their music for free, then we have people who don't think a musician should get paid for their efforts because it's not classed as a real job.

Others hope for change and wan't music from none promoted brotherhood artists, problem is most of the underground is promoted and paid for by someone( the brotherhood as being alternative) it's all getting political and kind of like a religion, music is spirituality to some, a form of magick. To me this makes more sense than religion, you know music is based on reality not illusions.

yeah people forget how much music can influence your mind and body.
I can can get high listen to certain tracks and using Binary Beats can almost block and counter my harassment. probably been the most successful counter measure I have tried.

I'l have you know i make tunes and I have sampled my friend playing the drums and also my other friend on his bass guitar. I then play around on the PC and change the patterns around to make my own music.

So nerr!

But yeah technically most are not from real instruments.

there has been crappy music but that is because of the downloading.... the downloading is effecting sales big time... its so easy to just download the song you want with no risk or come back... so why not!? the thing is, what this has done is now the mainstream industry is in the hands of a handful of people... and they have had to try and manipulate the music more so than ever.... on the flip side... because it has put so many people out of jobs and has made music so limited... more Indy labels and websites have managed to get bands more exposure and this means that kids can hear more and more music and hence the majors are now being forced to try and give them what they want.... the only thing is it is very hard for bands to be as good as they used to be unless you are huge as there is no money and everything is done on a shoe string... which can be a good in some cases but in other cases it just means much less quality... part of me thinks its great that the greedy companies no longer have all the power... but the other part feels its a shame that we are running out of full time musicians that have a chance to be pro.... that being said I'm still at it and the publishing side is still the same as ever.... but again..this just encourages song righters to right for sound tracks and radio...other than just decent songs.
