thanks for the article juttkeys!
I don't see how any open-minded person can NOT come to the conclusion that the universe is probably stuffed with life, intelligent and otherwise.
People like to make the argument, "yeah okay if it's so full why haven't we been contacted yet?" Come on man, if you had the ability to travel outer space and go anywhere you please would you really want to stop by Earth and have a chat with a species that thinks it's the only thing intelligent in the universe and stares at an oblong box all day?

The POINT of the galaxy is to be filled with life.
It would be a a failure of a galaxy that didn't have life in supreme abundance.

Absolutely teeming with life, I would say.

There must be intelligent life out there, because there's bugger all down here on Earth! :D
Kidding of course!
It is obvious that life formed fairly easily here, it could have formed on Mars, though archaic in form but it didn't develop to intelligent levels. However, what is the definition of intelligent as opposed to non sentient or feral? Where is the dividing line, a pretty wide line I would think.
Life might be easier to form than most people think as the organic building blocks are all around and in abundance. For intelligent life and more advanced life forms it might be somewhat more difficult.
