I've been wanting to do a thread on FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES and other similar organizations for some time. Today I will start the thread and build on it over time because there is a lot of info to cover.

The primary reason for my interest in fraternities is the symbolism on their emblems, their level of secrecy and ritual, and also the fact that a lot of influential people (controllers of the world) are members of fraternities.

I won't go into too much depth on each one, so with that in mind, I'll get started...

In case you missed it, right wing hack & Jon Stewart's (http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/index.jhtml) "Douchebag of Liberty" Robert Novak was suspended by CNN after swearing on-air & walking out of an interview. Notifed ahead of time that he would be asked about his role in Plamegate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plamegate), Novak lost his cool during a rather banal back & forth with James Carville, blurting out, "Well, I think that's bullshit & I hate that. Just let it go." Novak then pushed his chair away from the table, stood up, took off his microphone & left the studio, leaving Carville to finish chatting with moderator Ed Henry. Novak was suspended shortly thereafter & CNN apologized for his potty mouth. Media Matters has a transcript and video, as does Crooks & Liars, who does a nice job of summing up the various responses to the slip-up from the lefty (reality-based) blogosphere. Novak's flip-out happened in the early afternoon, allowing The Daily Show to offer its take on it during last nite's show.

Phi Kappa Sigma
Members are known as "Phi Kaps" or "Skulls"

http://www.globalfailure.com/images/fraternities/Phikapcoat.jpg

Motto:

Stellis Aequus Durando ("Equal to the Stars in Endurance.")

The obvious symbolism with this coat of arms is the Skull and Bones, the Ouroboros at the top left of the shield, the Seal of Solomon, the Maltese Cross and the burning lamp (for illumination).

Maltese Cross: The Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, now commonly known as the Knights of Malta, can trace their origin to a group of monks attached to a hospice built in the Holy Lands to aid pilgrims. Over time, the monks started offering armed escort to travellers as they passed through perilous Syrian territory. Following the success of the First Crusade, the Hospitallers evolved into a military order.
Source: GuideToMalta.net (http://www.guidetomalta.net/maltese_cross.htm)

Skull and Bones: Because secret societies are secret, it is difficult to provide concrete facts about them. There are reportedly about a dozen senior-only societies, only a few of which have tombs. The first, Skull and Bones, was founded in 1832. Not all secret societies date back nearly that far; some are recent upstarts formed in response to the entrenched elitism of their better-known counterparts. Most choose a number of juniors and conduct a series of interviews (though some do accept applications).

You might not even realize the societies exist until Tap Night, an April evening when societies invite select juniors to join their ranks. Cloaked and hooded seniors lead the blindfolded "taps" around campus in obscure initiation ceremonies, that often involve screaming and bizarre behavior. This year, for example, Book and Snake taps were led blindfolded to Cross Campus to perform "The Humpty Dance."

George W. Bush and his child molesting father (according to Cathy O'Brien), George H.W. Bush, and his nazi supporting grandfather, Prescott Bush, were all initiated into the Skull and Bones.

Seal of Solomon (Pentacle):

In Medieval Jewish, Islamic and Christian legends, the Seal of Solomon was a magical signet ring said to have been possessed by King Solomon, which variously gave him the power to command demons (or jinni), or to speak with animals. Source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_of_Solomon)

Stamp of Approval
March 2001 -- Special Tercentennial Edition
by Dan Oren '79, '84MD

While everyone who has received a Yale degree has at least glanced at the University's seal impressed on the document, few know the stamp's history, especially the origins of the apparent incongruity between a college founded by Christian divines and their choice of a Hebrew inscription. Even the origin of the Latin presents a puzzle.

A Yale diploma has long been a passport to opportunity, but explaining the equivalent of the customs stamp that validates it remains something of a challenge. To unravel the mystery, one must go back to Yale's origins, and beyond.

Although Yale's early leaders had spiritual aspirations for their college and saw themselves as American successors to the ancient Israelites, why would such a group of ardently Christian ministers have placed Hebrew words at the center of their corporate logo, and why the particular Latin accompaniment?

[I would have thought they would have had EDUCATIONAL aspirations for the college...?]

The two Hebrew words (Urim v'Thummim) at the center of the official Yale seal appear eight times in the Hebrew Bible. Jewish sources considered them oracular gems worn by the high priest Aaron. And their presence in Leviticus 8:8 -- the middle verse of the Pentateuch -- suggests that they identify the book on the Yale seal as the Bible itself.

We have no proof yet that a seal was actually employed before 1736, when Yale's Latin diplomas began to note the college's sigillum. The 1749 master's diploma of future Yale President Ezra Stiles -- donated to the University last year by his great-great-great-granddaughters Ann Prouty and Martha Munro -- displays the oldest surviving and legible Yale seal known. It is strikingly similar to the one used today. It is also similar to a Harvard seal produced in 1650. Where Harvard had then written, In Christi Gloriam, "For the Glory of Christ." Yale inscribed the familiar, Lux et Veritas -- "Light and Truth." Where Harvard had placed three blank books and a chevron, Yale depicted one book with two Delphic Hebrew words.

Lest Harvard partisans assume that Yale usurped Harvard's Veritas motto, adding a touch of Lux to it, they should know that although a 1643 Harvard sketch shows Veritas drawn on three books, in fact Harvard did not make Veritas its motto or use it on its regular seal until 1843, nearly a century after Yale had selected its motto. Harvard historian Samuel Eliot Morison conjectured that the common teaching of theologian William Ames at Yale and Harvard inspired both institutions in their search for appropriate language. Yet the answer for Harvard may not have been the solution for Yale, and the reasons must be sought in the theology of the day.

Clarification of the Hebrew words may reside in Yale's primary divinity text, Johannes Wollebius's The Abridgement of Christian Divinitie, which was then studied all afternoon every Friday by Yale students as part of the long preparation for the Christian Sabbath. Wollebius's book was of such importance, Samuel Johnson (Class of 1714) noted sarcastically, that it was "considered with equal or greater veneration than the Bible itself." In Wollebius's text we find an interpretation of the Hebrew words that might surprise 21st-century readers: "Urim and Thummim.did signify Christ the Word and Interpreter of the Father, our light and perfection." Harvard's 1650 In Christi Gloriam motto celebrated the glory of Christ. In their own way, Yale's Hebrew words may have done no less.

The 1726 Yale college laws, reflecting such devotion, characteristically ordained that: "Every student shall consider ye main end of his study.to know God in Jesus Christ and answerably to lead a Godly sober life." To the ancient Hebrews, the Urim and Thummim reflected the oracular will of God. To the Puritans who shaped early Yale, that oracular will was represented by Jesus. Their seal proclaimed it!

The Urim and Thummim seal may have had religio-political overtones as well. The date on which the trustees first applied for a seal, October 17, 1722, was no random one in Yale history. Meeting in New Haven, the trustees were likely preoccupied with the greatest scandal in the University's history. Rector Timothy Cutler had just publicly challenged the ordination of virtually every minister in New England, thereby attacking the foundations of New England society. Cutler's earthshaking Anglican-Arminian declaration has been compared by Yale historian Brooks M. Kelley to the 20th-century equivalent of a Yale President declaring that Russian communism was superior to American democracy.

On October 17, 1722, the Yale trustees fired Cutler and instituted a confession of faith to be required of Yale faculty. The Wollebius book, with the anti-Arminian stance that it took, would therefore have been an especially fitting source for the Yale motto. In this context the request for a seal that day had far more than decorative significance; it was likely a declaration of Yale ideals.

If we return to the Latin Lux et Veritas, a remaining question is of how the common translation from that era of Thummim as "perfection," became Veritas or "truth." By 1735 (the year before the Yale seal began to appear on Yale diplomas), under the stimulus of Jonathan Edwards, theological battles between "New Lights" and "Old Lights" were raging in Connecticut. The "New Lights" attacked the established order by questioning the value of education outside of understanding Jesus. Many "Old Lights" thought religious knowledge was central to an education, but hardly sufficient for one. The latter opinion prevailed at Yale. Mathematics and metaphysics, insisted Yale's leaders, had to go hand in hand with theology and ethics. By choosing to translate Urim V'Thummim as Lux et Veritas, it seems -- in contrast to the one-dimensional approach of Harvard -- Yale insisted that its college offered the essentials of proper learning: the "light" of a liberal education and the "truth" of an old New England religious tradition. the end Source: Yale Alumni Magazine (http://www.yalealumnimagazine.com/issues/01_03/seal.html)

I don't want there to be any confusion, this fraternity did not start at Yale University. I was just trying to demonstrate the connection between the "Star of David and the Skull and Bones, which is a Secret Society at Yale University.

This is the history on the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity;

http://www.globalfailure.com/images/fraternities/Samuel_Brown_Wylie_Mitchell.jpg

Phi Kappa Sigma was founded by Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell at the University of Pennsylvania on August 16, 1850.

Dr. Mitchell was an outstanding member of the Masons...

The idea of establishing the Fraternity at the University of Pennsylvania was first recorded in Samuel B.W. Mitchell's personal papers on August 16, 1850, which was also his twenty-second birthday. The date of his birthday, as well as that of the Fraternity, was destined to have a further significance when Dr. Mitchell died on August 16, 1879. When college opened for the fall term of 1850, Samuel B. W. Mitchell had developed the basic principles of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. These included the Constitution and Ritual, the order's name, and the design of the badge - a Maltese cross supporting the six-pointed star, the letters Phi, Kappa, and Sigma, and the Skull and Bones. No modification, except in size, has ever been made to the badge originally designed by Dr. Mitchell.

Fraternities were not welcomed by faculties and administrators of many universities prior to the American Civil War. Many chapters were forced to exist sub-rosa or become extinct, as a result of the antagonism evidenced toward social fraternities. Along with other fraternities, Phi Kappa Sigma was banned from the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1852. Dr. Mitchell was called before the Board of Trustees and asked "Why do you wear that 'Piratical' ensign?" His answer was not recorded, but he must have been convincing since the fraternity was allowed to maintain a sub-rosa existence with headquarters in Mitchell's rooms at the Philadelphia Hospital, where he later served as Assistant Physician.

[He undoubtedly bewitched them]

While the fraternity operated at the clandestine level...Meetings of the Chapter were held in rented chapter rooms, without dormitory or dining facilities, in various sections of downtown Philadelphia until 1896, when a house was purchased adjacent to the university campus in West Philadelphia.

It seems this fraternity is so secretive that a list of members is not readily available. Why the big secret?

On behalf of the 66 member fraternities of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), and the 26 sororities of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), let us welcome you to the Capital Fraternal Caucus (CFC) website. Now more than ever we need your help to ensure policymakers in Washington enact laws that allow us to sustain and grow Greek life.

Pobratimstvo lica u svemiru (http://www.borut.com/library/texts/tin/poetry_u.htm#Braca)

Ne boj se! Nisi sam! Ima i drugih nego ti
koji nepoznati od tebe žive tvojim životom.
I ono sve što ti bje, ču i što sni
gori u njima istim žarom, ljepotom i čistotom.

Ne gordi se! Tvoje misli nisu samo tvoje! One u drugima žive.

.... Tin Ujevic - Brotherhood of Persons in Universe

Tr.(two ending verses)

I am in some unknown, and on a faraway
star, unentwined, but a single string here,
in a dying flower, shattered in the world that drifts,
so when am I finally going to be there in my essence?

But I am I, stubborn, even when I am gone
I am the spike from the top sacrificed in the masses;
Oh, universe! I live and die in everyone;
I namelessly live on in brothers.

Die Verbrüderung der Menschen im Weltall (http://www.poezija-gedichte.com/scg/projekti.html)

Sei ohne Furcht! Du bist nicht einsam, nicht allein,
Das gleiche Leben wird von anderen geführt,
Und neben dir wird stets ein andrer sein,
Der deinen Wunsch nach Wärme und nach Schönheit spürt.

Sei ohne Stolz!

ich bin der Einzige, auch einer Masse preisgegeben;
mit allen Wesen sterbe ich dahin
und werde namenlos in meinen Brüdern weiterleben.

Genie in a bottle baby?

GENIE:

Genie is the English term for the Arabic جني (jinnie). In pre-Islamic Arabian mythology and in Islam, a jinni (also “djinni” or “djini”) is a member of the jinn (or “djinn”), a race of supernatural creatures. The word “jinn” literally means anything which has the connotation of concealment, invisibility, seclusion, and remoteness.

Types of jinn include the ghul (“night shade”, which can change shape), the sila (which cannot change shape), the Ifrit [i'fɾɪt], and “marid” [mʌ'ɾɪd]

The most obvious symbolism is the all-seeing-eye, the seven-pointed star, and the chevron. Can anyone enlighten me on the constellation? Edit?

Chevron:
http://www.globalfailure.com/images/chevron.gif

This structure is common in military and heraldic contexts, and is often called a chevron. It denotes rank when used on military uniforms; when doubled or tripled, the rank increases. Chevrons can be found on the clothes of high-ranking chiefs already about 3000 B.C.
Note how the car manufacturer Citroën has taken the chevrons as the emblem of its cars. Although said to have originated from the new angled form of cogwheels used by Citroën, (http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?p=41586&highlight=chevron#post41586) the fact remains that the emblem of the car is an old Western military ideogram denoting high rank.

Seven Pointed Star

...The septagram is important in Western kabbalah, where it symbolizes the sphere of Netzach, the seven planets, the seven alchemical metals, and the seven days of the week.

The seven pointed star is an important part of the seal of the A.·.A.·. Zeta Beta Tau

http://www.globalfailure.com/images/fraternities/zbt.jpg

Motto:
"A Powerhouse of Excellence"

The symbolism on this one is off the scale. The ones that caught my eye right off the bat, are the skull and bones (again), the Seal of Solomon, the fasces, the (Freemason/Mormon?) handshake and of course the lamps. What is that...a pine cone?

Founding

The Zeta Beta Tau fraternity was inspired by Dr. Richard J. H. Gottheil, a professor of languages at Columbia University and a Zionist. On December 29, 1898, he formed a Zionist youth society with a group of Jewish students from several New York City universities. The society was called Z.B.T., the first letters in the Hebrew phrase "Zion Bemishpat Tipadeh", which translated means "Zion shall be redeemed with justice". This is taken from Isaiah 1:27 - "Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness." ZBT has interpreted Isaiah's prophecy to mean in its ritual that "All Men Are Brothers". At the time Jews were not allowed to join other fraternities due to rampant anti-semitism, thus there was a need for an exclusively Jewish Greek letter fraternity. Z.B.T. changed to Zeta Beta Tau in 1903.

...Changed to Zeta Beta Tau on the surface, but judging from their symbolism, I'm guessing that the original Zionist principals remain

Tinmenace, I am with you on the Jinn thing. A good friend of mine is Muslim and we have had many convo about the Jinn. Jinn is also a character from the vidoe game Tekken. He is supposed to be half man half God. Ghul, is short for the Ghoolies, like the movie. The Ghoolies were interdimensional demons that were called upon from people in this frequency. The pine cone maybe symbolic of fibbonacci series, as the pine cone is a perfect example of a spiral. Notice the inverted of oblong square. This frat is definitely brotherhood material.

Interesting info, tin. Thanks. ;)

The name Harold Ramis pops out at me. He's one of those writers I always
admired but now I'm not so sure.

I used to think Ghostbusters was one of the great film comedies but now it
looks more like a set-up for the "End Times" crap. The dead rising from the
grave, dark occult beings taking over the world and all that.

Still, I can't find much fault with his Groundhog Day film. Seems like
a harmless and clever movie. But then I haven't seen it lately. I should
rent that and have another look at it.

A lot of these guys that I used to think were so creative and clever -- now I
realize they were just writing from someone else's script all along. :(

You're welcome, SuperGraf! :)

You know the thing is that they really ARE clever, but just as the loomies have done for thousands of years, they suck it all the information and brilliance out of the general population and hog it for themselves, and then keep it behind the doors of secrecy in fraternities and other secret societies such as Freemasonry and Skull and Bones.

The thing is that the vast majority of the lower ranking initiates don't realize that their brilliance and energy is being harvested by the sorcerers higher up, to more successfully perform their dark magick.

They're sold the lie that it's a noble thing to belong to a fraternity or secret society. It appeals to the reptilian part of their brain, to which status and ego resonates.

I know that you know that there are gems of light in dark places. This information just cautions us that not all is as it seems, but doesn't change our enjoyment of what it offers at a superficial level ;)

That's a good way of looking at it, thanks.

The thing about this subject that intrigues me is I wonder how much of this
the artists are really aware of. For example, I'm sure a lot of actors are
clueless -- they just accept their roles and their huge paychecks and don't
ask questions. While some other actors are reps themselves or
mind-controlled slaves.

But, the writers and directors must be more hip to what's going on. I just
wonder how much they know and to what degree they've "sold their soul" and
what justifications they may have, if any.

BTW, there's an interesting Albert Brooks comedy movie called The Muse. It's
about a person who secretly influences the biggest creative minds in Hollywood.
I think there's more truth to it than most people realize (though it's all
presented as harmless & funny).

Six fraternities suspended after San Diego drug bust

SAN DIEGO, California (AP) -- San Diego State University has suspended six fraternities after a sweeping drug investigation that landed members of three fraternities in jail on suspicion of openly dealing drugs on campus.

Deputy District Attorney Damon Mosler, center, points out guns and drugs seized during the San Diego drug bust.

The probe -- prompted by the cocaine overdose death last year of a freshman sorority member -- led to the arrests of 96 people, 75 of them San Diego State students. A second drug death occurred during the investigation.

Twenty-nine people were arrested early Tuesday in raids at nine locations including the Theta Chi fraternity, where agents found cocaine, Ecstasy and three guns. Eighteen of those arrested were wanted on warrants for selling to undercover agents.

Theta Chi and five other fraternities have been suspended pending a hearing on evidence gathered during the investigation, dubbed Operation Sudden Fall. Video Watch police escort handcuffed students »

Authorities said some fraternity members openly dealt drugs, and that one sent a mass text message advertising special prices on cocaine. Two kilograms of cocaine were seized in all, along with 350 Ecstasy pills, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, hashish oil, methamphetamine, illicit prescription drugs, several guns and at least $60,000 in cash, authorities said.

Profits may have been used to finance fraternity operations, according to an affidavit.

A member of Theta Chi sent out a mass text message to his "faithful customers" stating that he and his "associates" would be unable to sell cocaine while they were in Las Vegas for a fraternity formal, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The text promoted a cocaine "sale" and listed the reduced prices on bulk quantities.

"Attn faithful customers both myself and my associates will be in Vegas this coming weekend," the 19-year-old student wrote in the text message, according to the DEA. "So stock up, we will be back Sunday night."

Those arrested included a student who was about to receive a criminal justice degree and another who was to receive a master's degree in homeland security.

The Greek system at San Diego State has about 3,000 students, but Fraternity Row plays an outsized role in campus life. It sits a block from Cox Arena, home to many college sporting events.

Dale Taylor, national executive director of Theta Chi, said he was "obviously shocked and saddened" by the allegations. Theta Chi prohibited the San Diego chapter from group activities such as parties or sports activities and will investigate additional disciplinary measures, up to expulsion of members or the entire chapter.

The San Diego chapter, founded 61 years ago, was the first national fraternity on campus and has 65 members.

The chapter declined comment. It occupies two low-slung homes a block off Fraternity Row, with large red and white Greek symbols propped on the roof.

Theta Chi has 131 chapters in the U.S. and Canada and more than 161,000 initiates. It was founded in 1856.

Besides Theta Chi, the other suspended fraternities are Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Mu.

University police launched their investigation into drug sales on campus after Shirley Poliakoff, 19, died from a cocaine overdose in May 2007. Investigators discovered many students in fraternities were aware of organized drug dealing within their houses.

As the investigation continued, another student, from Mesa College, died of a cocaine overdose at an SDSU fraternity house on February 26, the DEA said.

Some drugs bought and sold by students were traced to gangs linked to Mexican cartels, according to the DEA. Agents collected about $100,000 worth of drugs that were being advertised in "resale quantities" between members of the fraternity and other students.
