Professor Andrew Watson at the University of East Anglia has produced a mathematical model suggesting the odds of finding new life on other planets as too low. Findings are based on the time it has taken for humans to evolve compared with the remaining life span of earth.
Has he ever considered the possibilities of our low odds, giving "aliens" with high odds of finding life on other planets the opportunity of using the theory of evolution as a means for us never finding them for the remaining lifespan of earth.

I think it must be hard to dertimine from one model (the earth) what the odds of inteligent life occuring must be. To quote the professor
Intelligent life evolved late on Earth through several difficult evolutionary steps, the professor suggests
What if other planets didnt have such difficulty

Between 361 and 38,000 alien civilisations in our galaxy (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7870562.stm)

i think this is very interesting, there is life but finding it is the hard part, which is true. imagine how many billions of solar systems that dont have any life. it must be alot, add to that the time taken to explore all these planets.

CITY scientists believe there could be as many as 38,000 alien civilisations across the galaxy – but have no idea what they may look like.
Experts at Edinburgh University have refined existing research into life forms, using the latest information on what conditions are needed for them to emerge on other planets.
They now believe that there may be at least 371 intelligent civilisations – comprising biologically complex creatures – but possibly as many as 37,964.
But Duncan Forgan, who carried out the research stressed findings were still very much in their infancy.
He said: "It is important to realise that the picture we've built up is still incomplete and even if alien life forms do exist, we may not necessarily be able to make contact with them and we have no idea what form they would take."
The above quotes were taken from The Edinburgh News a local paper up here in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is interesting that more of these stories are being covered and published by the main stream media , WHY so much of it now???

That only applies to outer space, not inter dimensional.

Who cares what that guy says...What are the odds of winning the lottery? People still win it every year.
Some of these scientists have disappeared so far up their own arses it's laughable. He's discounting finding life in the universe on his mathematical equation!
Arrogance he has...
Find life he will not.
Has the BBC or the guy himself (for that matter) ever thought that this equation and most other ideas about the universe are a load of crap? Even if a good model, the random nature of life itself makes it irrelevant.

Yeah, how crazy is that > searching for "answers" out there, when the real action is right here! Oldest trick in the book lol.

Thing is, we call a star perhaps Zeta-Reticuli (to quote a famous one), but what do the Zeta-Reticulans call themselves? What I'm saying is that everything is put in Human terms, using human knowledge and technology, and we aren't even trying to second guess the stupendous differences between ourselves and this "Alien lot".
We call ourselves 'Humans', they might call us 'Ekki Ekki P-Tang'.

Are we though thinking alien life is like human known life - are we looking in the wrong places and at the wrong things and assuming that all life started the same way?

Lookin for life is a crock of shit anyway...what they really mean is conscious life; preferably white and speaks english... A fuckin rock could be conscious for all well know...In which case look no further.
These people are insane...life is everywhere.. the universe is life!
