Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is hosting a summit to address fears of a "credit crunch crime wave" after burglaries were up 4 per cent in the last set of crime figures.
Well seeing as the figures for 2007/2008 say they went DOWN 4% then that just means that they will be back to where they started when the economy was booming.
Decreases were recorded in nearly every category, including:
* violent crime down 12% according to the BCS
* police recorded sex offences down 7%
* vandalism down 10% according to the BCS
* police recorded 'violence against a person' down 8%
* vehicle-related thefts down 11% according to the BCS
* home burglaries reported to police down 4%
