i was channel surfing last night (all 4 channels we have here lol) and ended up watching oprah and they had a story about this thing called challenge day (http://www.challengeday.org/).
basically it quite a good idea, they take a group of kids from a school, they all get together, play trust games (think corporate camps and shit like that), they then break up into smaller groups, the emphasis being on people from different social backgrounds, races etc and start talking about themselves, they do this thing called 'if you really knew me', where they start talking about things that really affect them in their lives. they also do these things where the kids cross a line if they've ever been bullied, or called names, or been abused, the whole aim being to show kids that they are not alone, to break down barriers between them, it's actually quite moving at times.
but...
they have a hand symbol that means 'i love you', the symbol looks like this :

so you have these kids telling these heart wrenching stories and all the other kids in support of the one doing the talking, show this symbol, i must be honest, the whole idea was pretty cool, but upon seeing this symbol everywhere i was thinking what's actually going on here?
what do you guys think?
