Book Summary

The following is a brief summary that outlines some of the main points made by Elijah Muhammad in his 300 page book called Message to the Blackman in America. It was first printed in 1965 and then again in 1992 by United Brothers Communications Systems of Newport News, Virginia.

Elijah Muhammad makes many outlandish proclamations in his book, but it is important to keep in mind that the proclamations are mixed in with claims about discrimination that are true to varying degrees, and that even when true to some degree, readers' opinions would differ about the significance of such claims.

In his book he says that he is a divine messenger who is warning blacks that they had better pledge to Nation of Islam's version of Islam before Allah eliminates whites and non-believers in racial Armageddon.

To understand the reasoning behind the belief in the eventual annihilation of whites, it is necessary to explore Elijah Muhammad's interpretations of creation, of history, and of events from the 1960's.

He says in his book that Allah created originally the blacks, next the brown, red, and yellow races, and lastly the whites. A renegade black scientist named Yakub created the white race 6,000 years ago, and ever since then, the whites have ruled the other colors.

There are hints in the text that blacks are considered supreme over whites. After explaining that Yakub extracted the "brown germ" from the "black germ" and in turn grafted whites from the "brown germ," the author says Yakub discovered that the "white . . . was the weaker of the black germ." In discussing "Black Supremacy" versus "White Supremacy" the author says that "some must rule over the other. It is the law of nature."

Whites are viewed as inherently evil for "the whole Caucasian race is a race of devils." While they are usually referred to as "devils," other titles are applied to whites such as "the great archdeceivers" and "man of sin." The white race, we find out, "are the people described as 'beast' in the Revelation of the Bible." We read that blacks have been tortured and murdered by whites principally, and as a result, whites are the "evil and murderous race."

It is said that blue eyes are ugly while black eyes are beautiful.

Christianity, we are told, was organized in order to make slaves out of all blacks. Christianity's purpose "was to deceive other races, namely, the black, brown, yellow and red" in order "to make an easy prey for the white race." Playing into the hands of whites, black Christian preachers prevent blacks from learning Nation of Islam's teachings.

Although most denigrations are pointed at white Christians, white Jews are included at times. Elijah Muhammad gives us his interpretation of Biblical history as follows: "Jesus . . . gave up His work of trying to convert the Jews or white race to the religion of Islam."

Nation of Islam changes the names of new members by replacing with "X's" their last names having European origins. For example, Malcolm Little became Malcolm X. Eventually members get new last names. For example, Louis Eugene Walcott first changed to Louis X and then became Louis Farrakhan. Also,

Elijah Poole became Elijah Muhammad. In Message to the Blackman in America, a name of European origin is called an "illegal" name while a name of Islamic origin is called "a legal and Holy name of God." (The words Allah and God are used interchangeably in the book.) Blacks who keep their names that descended from "slave-masters" will not see the "hereafter."

Strong demands for racial separation are issued. Elijah Muhammad commands that God calls for racial separation, and that "IT IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT TO TEACH SEPARATION OF THE BLACKS AND WHITES IN AMERICA THAN PRAYER." Integration and intermarriage between blacks and whites are an attempt by whites to confuse blacks, keep them enslaved, and prevent them from learning Nation of Islam's teachings. Demands are made to whites for a separate territory.

Blacks who assimilate into mainstream culture are called "disgraceful Uncle Toms" and "Stool Pigeons." Such blacks seek to please the "slave-masters' children" and they prevent blacks from learning Nation of Islam's teachings.

Elijah Muhammad wrote several passages giving his opinion of Martin Luther King and about King's involvement in the civil rights movement. On one page, Elijah Muhammad offered Martin Luther King a sharing of power on the condition that Martin Luther King would pledge to Nation of Islam's religious teachings including the demand for a separate territory. Most passages describe Martin Luther King as ignorant and foolish for working toward cooperation with whites and for saying, according to Elijah Muhammad, that blacks "must not seek to rise from a position of disadvantage to one of advantage substituting injustice of one type for that of another."

We are told by Elijah Muhammad that police forces beat blacks and that thousands of blacks are held in prison "unjustly."

Blacks cannot accomplish power through voting because whites will fight against blacks at the polling places, and even if many blacks were able to vote, any black candidates allowed to run would be in the pockets of the whites.

It is said that whites eventually will stop employing blacks and so blacks must learn to provide for themselves and each other. Blacks should buy land, build their own homes, and produce their own food. There are "enough educated black men and women in this government to start a government big enough to take care of the world." Thus, blacks are ready to run the world after whites are annihilated. In the meantime, the author assures blacks that whites will sell them cloth making machines.

Elijah Muhammad asks blacks to send donations to Nation of Islam's "National Three-Year Economics Savings Plan" that will allow for a bank to be started and that will turn their millions of dollars into billions. It is interesting that in a passage that asks blacks to donate money, Elijah Muhammad tells his readers that whites will have more respect for blacks if blacks save more money.

He also asks whites for monetary help, 20 to 25 years of it. He seems to make a distinction between two types of efforts. Blacks who ask whites for help are labeled shameful beggars when they also want to assimilate, but Elijah Muhammad does not call himself such when he asks whites for money and land because he wants it for black independence and separation.

The author warns that the white "devils," the orthodox Muslims, and the black Christians all oppose the "new Islam" that will be brought about by Allah.

He says that accusations about the black Muslims plotting to overthrow the government are untrue because Nation of Islam teaches its members to be non-violent and not to possess guns. The white government will be ended by Allah alone during destructive Armageddon so that violent efforts by blacks are not needed.

However, in other passages Elijah Muhammad reserves violent actions as a possibility. The blacks who marched during the 1960's in Birmingham, Alabama, would have been justified to kill every police dog that they confronted, and if the police had fired upon them "they would have been justified by God and Divine law of self-defense to fight and defend themselves.

. . . Surely the American so-called Negroes would have God and world sympathy on their side if they would take the right steps or actions." Concerning the questioning of black Muslims by the Federal Bureau of Investigation he says: "We want the FBI to know what we are teaching. We are not teaching what we do not want you to know, FBI.

We want the government to know we have no secrets. The thing you should do is to keep it a secret yourself, when you can." After explaining that whites plot to keep blacks fighting amongst themselves, he says the following about blacks killing whites: "We don't bother about killing them, as I am not teaching that which I want to be kept as a secret, but that which the world has not known and should know."

Elijah Muhammad wrote in his book that the years 1965 and 1966 were to bring in the "Fall of America." He wrote that it was "the touch of the finger of God" that made the world go off the gold standard, and the result would be the "crumbling and fall of America."

We are told that among all whites in the world the whites in America and Germany have been the most vicious to the blacks and so they would be eliminated first in Armageddon. There would be a delay before other European whites would be eliminated.

Throughout the entire book it is proclaimed that there is nothing whites can do to avoid Armageddon because whites were created inherently evil and because Allah doomed whites in the scriptures.

It is worth noting the use the word "win" in a sentence near the end of the book because, at first glance, the use of the word seems to give a glimmer of hope to the "man of sin." First Elijah Muhammad says America's technology cannot defeat the divine weaponry that Allah would bring down upon it, and then he says the following: "what America needs to win is to give freedom and equal justice to her slaves" who are "the so-called Negroes" and to give a separate territory to them.

The use of the word "win" most likely means, not that American whites can avoid their annihilation, but that they can buy some time like that already granted to other whites who are not German. In another quote he allows for American whites to delay their doom but not to avoid it: "War is due. War is inevitable. . . . It would be wise for you if you want to get an extension of time to treat us right." He says that "the whole Caucasian race" can be reformed but by an action no less than grafting them back into blacks.

Throughout the book we learn that Elijah Muhammad learned the Nation of Islam doctrines from Master Fard Muhammad in the 1930's in Detroit, Michigan.

After the text ends, there is an appendix having documents in which Elijah Muhammad explains about himself and Nation of Islam. Some documents are transcriptions of interviews and others are letters written by him. One letter included is written not by him but by an Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, namely J. B. Stoner of Georgia, and a follow-up letter is Elijah Muhammad's racist response to Stoner's racist letter.

The book has an index, and just after it are several pages that serve as guides for interpreting "the Bible" and "the Holy Qur'an." There is a list of titles that summarize passages from the scriptures, and many of the titles give summaries in a modern day racial context. For examples, Revelation 14:4 is summarized as "Worship white man as God;" Revelation 18:4 is summarized as "God pleads with you to get out of America;" and a section of the Qur'an is summarized as "Black mud fashioned into shape."

The Nation of Islam, in my opinion, is nothing to do with Islam and is little better than a racist sect. Although I hate the term 'racist' it's far too abstract..lemme think of a better phrase.. It's nothing more than yet another tool which advocates quasi empowerment to a group which feels disenfranchised by mainstream society, but which, in actuality, is a divisive tactice employment by tptb.

Masons who have reached such degrees as 32nd and 33,d are not called Masons. They are called Moslem Shriners. They are reaching up to us. When you take the 33rd degree you are taught to greet each other; 'As- Salaam Alaikum '. You are taught Islam from then on because you become a Muslim when that degree is conferred on you. At least you are supposed to be a believer in Islam. They teach you, almost from the start, to turn your face to the east." 27

AN ORIGINAL MAN

Claude Clegg a former Professor of History at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, authored the book titled, "An Original Man: The Life and Times of Elijah Muhammad", which was considered the first scholarly biography on Elijah Muhammad. Clegg contacted me via telephone in 1995, he and I, had various conversations during this time period about the Nation of Islam during the research stage of this project. Clegg had received a copy of my book titled, In Defense of the Defender: The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, (published in1994) and he thought I would be a good resource to assist him with making contact with former followers of Elijah Muhammad prior to 1976. 28

Clegg's perspective on the Nation of Islam sums up their view of admitting the unorthodox correlation of Islam and Freemasonry but the Nation of Islam teaches that Islam offers a "superior" theology" and one could transition from a "pseudo Islamic" organization like Freemasonry (Shrine Masonry aka in Islam as Moslem Sons) into the "Supreme Wisdom" as taught by the Nation of Islam. Clegg stated:

"At least for some Masons, membership in the Nation of Islam represented a spiritual graduation to a new level of knowledge even more intriguing and coveted than the thirty-three degrees of Masonic secrets. The Muslims believe that their gnosis was superior to the knowledge of the Masons in philosophical breadth and practical utility. It was not so much that they felt that the Nation's theology was radically different from Masonic doctrines, though it was in many ways, but instead, that the beliefs of the Muslims were 'original' formulations from which Freemasonry flowed as a sort of doctrinal distributary. Both the Muslims and the Masons shared an affinity for mystical symbolism, biblical allegories, and numerology, but the former considered themselves superior custodians of arcane knowledge. Whatever their ultimate motives for becoming Muslims, Masons did number among the early converts of the Nation of Islam". 29

ISLAM'S KNOWLEDGE IS 360 DEGREES A COMPLETE CIRCLE

Islam claim to represent 360 degrees of knowledge, which is a complete circle and the Masons who reaches the apex of becoming a thirty-third degree only have attained partial knowledge. Blavatsky who is a master in the field of Theosophy and authored two monumental works, The Secret Doctrine: The Synthesis of Religion and Philosophy and "Isis Unveiled" and you could spend a lifetime deciphering Manley P. Hall's book titled, "Secret Teachings of all Ages". Moreover, and never exhaust the boundless wisdom because the ancients intended for it to be never -ending and to suggest that our Masonic travel ends at the United Supreme Council, 33rd Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites of Freemasonry conferring the honorary 33rd degree in a formalized way, completes our knowledge goal is ludicrous. This false contention is arguably the fuel that breeds so many misconceptions between the two entities.

The secret to Freemasonry, is that there is no secret, and anyone who is willing to take the time to investigate this subject could get a working knowledge of the order from the first degree (Entered Apprentice) to the thirty-third (Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry) and/or the York Rite Side.

I've been taking a closer look at the writings of Wesley Williams, and I am shocked. I had no idea the Nation of Islam was so enmeshed with Freemasonry. Enmeshed is an understatement, the two are basically one and the same.

Looking at his "The Book of God", he basically sets the history of the occult in reverse, where it is the "true Islam". Everything is there. The "Sons of God" or Nephilim, also the Fallen Angels, are God, a man, and his council. They have been guiding the select of humanity ever since. He even places them in "Shamballah" in the Gobi desert, being the same as the "Great White Brotherhood", or the "Hidden Chiefs" of "Hidden Masters" of the occult.

The entire history of the occult is co-opted to his version of Islam, including Gnosticism, the Templars and Cathars, and the Holy Grail. He invokes Masonic historian Manly P. Hall as a source, and also Blavatsky, an avowed Satanist. He even has a chapter about the "Masonic secret", which he correctly explains is that "Man is God".

That explains why the creed he expounds is that of anthropomorphism, because it is a hidden method of preparing the unsuspecting masses for the acceptance of the god-man Messiah of the Kabbalah.

So evidently, at the higher levels of the Nation of Islam, like all other occult fronts, Lucifer is recognized as "true God". I wouldn't be surprised if this were the belief of Mr. Williams, or that he would deny it.

Satanism does seem to be the original cult of the NOI, as its founder was accused of instigating ritual murder. That was Wallace Fard, who, according to the FBI, had as many as 27 different aliases, and was a sometime petty criminal. Fard initially joined the Moorish Science Temple, a quasi-Masonic and pseudo-Islamic organization, and seems to have been involved in a conspiracy to usurp leadership of that order, by having its leader, Noble Drew Ali, killed.

Fard finally got in trouble when one of his followers committed murder to, in his own words, "bring himself closer to Allah." He had quoted from Fard's booklet titled Secret Rituals of the Lost-Found Nation of Islam. Although not charged with any crime, Fard was asked to leave Detroit in early 1933 and to never return. He finally disappeared without a trace in 1934.

But he had already initiated a devoted follower, Elijah Mohammed, to whom he taught Masonic superstitions dressed in Islamic themes, and who went on found the Nation of Islam, and claimed that Fard was God. We already know of the corruption that was discovered by Malcolm X. And I fear too about Louis Farrakhan, who too is listed as being a Freemason.

What a gang of criminals. I wonder what their relationship is with their higher-ups, and how conscious they are about the purpose they serve.

In his book he says that he is a divine messenger who is warning blacks that they had better pledge to Nation of Islam's version of Islam before Allah eliminates whites and non-believers in racial Armageddon.

The Akkadian word Shumer possibly represents this name in dialect.

Sumerian speakers spread down into southern Mesopotamia because they had developed a social organization and a technology that enabled them, through their control of the water, to survive and prosper in a difficult environment where, other than a possible indigenous hunter-gatherer population in the marshlands at the head of the Arabo-Persian Gulf and seasonal pastoralists, they had no competition.

A distinctive style of painted pottery spread throughout Mesopotamia in the Ubaid period, when the ancient Sumerian cult-center of Eridu was gradually surpassed in size by the nearby city of Uruk. The archaeological transition from the Ubaid period to the Uruk period is marked by a gradual shift from painted pottery domestically-produced on a slow wheel, to a great variety of unpainted pottery mass-produced by specialists on a fast wheel.

The date of this transition, from Ubaid 4 to Early Uruk, is in dispute, but calibrated radiocarbon dates from Tell Awayli would place it as early as 4500 BC.By the time of the Uruk period (4500-3100 BC calibrated), the volume of trade goods being inexpensively transported along the canals and rivers of southern Mesopotamia facilitated the rise of many large temple-centered cities where centralized administrations could afford to employ specialized workers. It is fairly certain that it was during the Uruk period that Sumerian cities began to make use of slave labor, and there is ample evidence for captured slaves as workers in the earliest texts.

Artifacts, and even colonies of this Uruk civilization have been found over a wide area - from the Mediterranean sea in the west, to the Taurus Mountains in Turkey, and as far east as Central Iran.

The Uruk period civilization, exported by Sumerian traders and colonists, had a stimulating and influential effect on surrounding peoples, who gradually evolved their own comparable, competing economies.

The cities of Sumer could not maintain remote, long-distance colonies purely by military force; the domestic horse did not appear in Sumer until the Ur III period - one thousand years after the Uruk period ended. The end of the Uruk period coincided with a dry period from 3200-2900 BC that marked the end of a long wetter, warmer climate period from ca. 9,000 to 5,000 years B.P. called the Holocene climatic optimum.

When the historical record opens, the Sumerians seem to be limited to southern Mesopotamia, although very early rulers such as Lugal-Anne-Mundu are indeed recorded as expanding to neighboring areas as far as the Mediterranean, Taurus and Zagros, and not long after legendary figures like Enmerkar and Gilgamesh, who are associated in mythology with the historical transfer of culture from Eridu to Uruk, were supposed to have reigned.

History
In the earliest known period Sumer was divided into several independent city-states, whose limits were defined by canals and boundary stones. The Role of Migrations and New Peoples in Establishing Empires



In the second millennium BCE the great empires that dominated Mesopotamia and the Near East were composed mostly of peoples who had not lived in the region a few hundreds of years before. The Sumerians disappeared, and two new groups of peoples took their place: "Semitic" speaking peoples and "Indo-European" speaking peoples. Like the Semites, the Indo-Europeans were composed of many different groups who spoke related languages (which had changed in minor ways over the course of time and with frequent migrations into new areas).



"Indo-European" speakers came from the east, from South Asia (present day India and Pakistan). In the second millennium BCE some moved into Persia (present day Iran), then into Mesopotamia, then into Anatolia (present day Turkey). They also moved north to the Black Sea and further west to the Aegean. As they moved, settled, and moved again, these migrants brought the basic structure of their language. The languages of Europe (including English) are descended from Indo-European roots.



The Semitic speaking peoples came from the west, from the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. They included the Phoenicians—expert sailors who lived in present day Lebanon and northern Israel; the Canaanites and Hebrews, semi-nomadic peoples in the interior of the same region; the Assyrians along the border between present day Iraq and Turkey; and the nomadic Amorites, also from north of Sumer.



Like the Semitic-speaking Akkadians before them (remember Saragon?), the Amorites conquered Sumer, in around 2000 BCE. The Amorites spoke a different language from the Sumerians, but they used Sumerian cuniform for their system of writing. They adopted many other elements of Sumerian culture: they kept Sumer's gods, who they worshiped along with their own; they absorbed and assimilated Sumerian art and technology; they continued to tell the Sumerian mythic stories, and especially the tale of Gilgamesh.



Amorite kings ruled the Mesopotamian city states (for instance, Ur, Lagash, and Babylon). From 2000 to 1800 BCE they carried out almost constant warfare against one another for control of water, land, and trade routes (just as the Sumerian city states had battled for the previous thousand years).







The Amorite Babylonian Empire



The key figure in the history of the Amorites is Hammurabi, who became king of the city of Babylon in 1792 BCE.



Babylon, a city on the Euphrates, had not been one of Sumer's great powers. But Hammuarabi shrewdly played the more powerful city-states off of each other, encouraging them to war while he constantly shifted his alliances to his own advantage.



Hammurabi would continue to use diplomacy with skill and cunning in dealing with other lands during the height of his empire; among his innovations was the regular use of diplomatic correspondence and the preservation of a diplomatic archive.



In the 1780s BCE, Hammurabi began conquering the other Mesopotamian city-states, which had been weakened by constant warfare. He first conquered lands south to the Persian Gulf, then pushed north.



Like other kings, Hammurabi legitimated his rule by linking himself to the patron god of his city. Babylon's patron god was Marduk. One of Hammurabi's many brilliant steps was setting up Marduk as the "chief god" of all lands under his rule; peoples in the conquered lands still had their own gods, and every city had its own patron god, but all had to recognize Marduk as the "first among the gods."



Marduk, the god of Babylon, ruled of all the other gods; Hammurabi, King of Marduk's city, therefore ruled all other cities. Babylon became the capital of Hammurabi's great empire, which became known as Babylon.



Babylon was a theocracy, like the other societies we have discussed—there was no difference between secular and religious power. The King's ties the chief god Marduk was symbolized, for instance, in the ritual of his having sex with the temple prostitutes, which symbolically represented the fertility of the lands.



Two minor notes:

1) Both men and women were temple prostitutes in Babylonian at this time; same-sex intercourse was seen as normal.

2) If you think back to last week's lecture, in the Epic of Gilgamesh, sex with a temple prostitute symbolized (among other things) the taming of nature, as in the story of Enkidu's seduction.



In addition establishing a common religious system for political aims, Hammurabi made brilliant use of a written law code. Previous kings had decreed law codes (e.g., Shulgi of Ur in 2100 BCE). Hammurabi's "Code" was similar, in that it recorded the results of judgments that the king had made in various legal cases.



Hammurabi's innovation was to have these judgments carved into stone, on monuments ("stela") placed in major cities and tablets distributed to his administrators, so that they could use his decisions as a guide for settling other legal cases. Hammurabi's code was based upon actual cases that had come before the king, so it gives us a great deal of information on Babylonian society. It tells us (for instance) about forms of property ownership, legal differences between different social castes, the status of women in various strata of society, marriage practices, divorce, attitudes towards sex, etc.



The law code (like the new religious system) served to legitimate the king and increased his authority. Hammurabi portrayed himself the link between the people and their gods, handing down justice from the gods. He portrayed himself as the protector and preserver of good order (his patron god, Marduk, kept order in the heavens). He portrayed himself as protector of all the people, including the weak.



And his law code made the state more important by asserting its role in deciding all sorts of matters of daily life, from the very private (e.g., sexual relations) to the very public (property ownership), from those related to religious practice to those that related to economic transactions.



Babylon's economy was based upon agriculture, which depended upon irrigation of land with waters from the Tigris and Euphrates. The king and the gods (in other words, the temples) owned almost all farm land, although the aristocrats also owned great estates. The temples coordinated the collection and storage of grain and other food, as well as its distribution (as in Sumer).



As in Sumer, craft production and commerce were concentrated in the cities. Levels of production appear to have been even greater in Babylon than they had been in Sumer. Babylon's traded extensively with other lands—it bought, sold, and traded goods with peoples as far north as the Caspian, as far east as present day Pakistan, and as far west as Egypt.



Babylonian society was extremely hierarchical. At the top stood the aristocrats (military, religious, and government officials and big merchants). All served the King (and the gods, since, again, this was a theocracy). The aristocrats were a small minority of the population but controlled huge amounts of land and wealth and a great number of slaves.



Beneath the elite, but free people, were a much larger group of artisans, petty merchants, and farmers "attached" to the temples or to the royal palace—they either leased land from the temple/the palace, or they produced or sold goods under the supervision of the temple/palace. Beneath the free artisans, merchants, and farmers in status were slaves, just as in old Sumer.



Slavery in Babylon was more wide spread and harsher than in Sumer (slaves now were branded like cattle, for instance). In Sumer, most foreign slaves had been war-prisoners. But Babylon's elites bought and sold slaves on what we might call "the international market." They also made slaves of natives who had fallen into debt in far greater numbers than had been true in Sumer.. In Sumer, most native slaves were held in bondage only temporarily; in Babylon, much larger numbers of native people fell into hereditary slavery.



Hammuarabi's unified Amorite Empire lasted for two hundred years after his death (in about 1750 BCE). It lasted so long in large part because 1) of the way that he tied the Mesopotamian cities together under one chief god; and 2) because of his creation of a more unified, effective system of centralized government (such as having one law code to serve as the basis for all local legal decisions). When his empire did collapse, it was because of invasion by other migrant peoples.

Assyrians were one of the most warlike people in history, lovers of the violence of the war and hunt. Amongst
the people of the ancient Middle East, they were famous for their cruelty. At the peak of its power, Assyria
stretched from Egypt to Persian Gulf. Their aggressiveness was partially attributed to their location: Assyria
was in northern Mesopotamia, north of Babylon. As no natural bounders like shores or mountains were found
there, they were vulnerable to attacks from any direction. This required the presence of a strong and mobile
army.
Assyrians were also good traders, and the main trade routes of Mesopotamia passed through Assyria. Their
control was a source of richness.

third millennium BC went out of Arabia and conquered Sumer and Akkad. Assyria emerged around 1900 BC,
but it was under the control of the Mitanni kingdom. During this period, Assyrians developed a military
tradition and during the 14th century BC, they started their campaigns.
Tukultiapil-Esara I expanded Assyria to the Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea in the 12th century. But their
success was fluctuating, due to numerous migrations of people, and the emergence of a new powerful
enemy, the Arameans, who were Semites as well. Other main enemies were Egypt and Urartu (later
Armenia), which supported the Neo-Hittites. Starting with the 9th century BC, Assyrians turned increasingly
cruel. The Assyrian Empire emerged, comprising Mesopotamia and northern Syria. In 745 BC, Tukultiapil
Esara III formed a new dynasty and conquered Babylon, Syria and Palestine. In 701 BC, Sin-ahhe-eriba
occupied Jerusalem. Ashur-ah-iddina (689-669 BC) invaded Egypt for a short time. Even the Phoenician
cities of Tyre and Sidon fell.
Military service was compulsory for all Assyrians, no matter the social class. A body of engineers was created
during the 7th century BC, for attacking fortifications. Soon, Assyrians passed from bronze weapons to iron
weapons and were amongst the first users of the horse driven war chariots, carrying archers. They were the
first people to introduce chivalry units in the army. Heavy chariots were driven by 4 horses and had two pairs
of wheels. The crew comprised a driver and an archer. The anterior part was protected by a metal plate.
The power of the infantry was conferred by archers using "composed curb" bow, with high penetration power
(the arrow passed bronze armors) and long reach. First, they wore metallic vests, and then they protected
themselves with long wooden shields and metal helmets. In direct combat, Assyrians employed axes and
short swords. The military commander has triangular scepters, a memory of the heavy war maces used by
ancient Mesopotamians. Infantry was helped by chariots and chivalry charges.

hanged on a rope inside the mobile tower. The whole population of the besieged towns would be massacred
and the human heads piled outside the city's wall.
In 853 BC, the Assyrian king Shalmaneser III fought an army made of Syrians and Jews joined by the
Arabian king Gindibu, with his army of 1,000... camel riders. The Assyrian chivalry was spooked by the sight
of the unusual beasts (not known by those times outside Arabia) and ran away. On the ruins of the city of
Nineveh (the ancient Assyrian capital), on a relief can be seen the chivalry of King Ashurbanipal (669-627
BC) fighting Arab camel riders (even today, Neo-Assyrians, ones of the few Christians of Iraq, do not
consume camel meat).

The Nation of Islam is more like the church of scientology for christians.

They have weird beliefs that don't represent Islam. Totally disagree with them in relation to Blacks only.

Islam is not a religion for one colour or race, so I'm not sure what they are practicing exactly. From what I know it's a mix of christianity with a touch of Islam.

Just because they say they practice Islam does not mean that the teachings of Islam is what they make it to be.... :cool:
