Israel resumes bombing of Gaza Strip as ceasefire crumbles

The attack on the tunnels used to smuggle goods and weapons over the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, caused panic in the town of Rafah.
The renewed hostilities came hours before George Mitchell, America’s new Middle East envoy was due to arrive in Israel. The country’s senior security cabinet was due to convene before his arrival to decide on further measures.
