Repeatedly using vulgar and racial insults, Superior Court Judge E. Curtissa Cofield argued with a police officer — addressing him as "Negro trooper" at one point — who was trying to process her on a charge of drunken driving in Glastonbury last October, a police video released Monday shows.
Cofield also is heard twice on the video using the racial term "n-----."
The state's Judicial Rev More..iew Council released the video Monday after it found cause to pursue five judicial misconduct charges against her, several of them based on what was termed disparaging, demeaning or "racially inappropriate" language.
The council has scheduled a hearing Feb. 9 to determine whether Cofield violated the judicial code of conduct and, if so, what action to take against her.

In vino veritas.Nice that she outed herself, really. Not that she's in anyway unique to that profession.
Pretty much makes all the sentences she might have doled-out to black people unsafe, imho.
Found another link to the story as the OP link is broken.

This is what happens when we adopt a culture of pretence, instead of
dealing with human nature honestly.
The very thin veneer of political correctness cracks to reveal the fear of differance that we ALL have.

Did you even watch the video?
I quote from the article...........
"Cofield was originally appointed in 1991 as the state's first black female judge"

Yes, I did.
Like I said we ALL have a fear of differance.
That Differance can be Race, culture, perceived intellect, class....... Etc
I presume this Judge may relate to last 3 amongst others.

It's still race, imho. That's how she sees black people, the three things she equates with them as lacking.
What drove her on to succeed in a profession that would separate her from them as she sees it.
It's just my opinion & btw,I was born years before political correctness was dreamed up.

Have you ever read the book Blink by Black Psychologist Malcom Gladwell? He makes some real interesting statements and points to a number of scientific experiments that shows we all operate from an unconscious racial bias apparently this is tied into evolution when we were living in our respective tribes.
Having read what he said in the book it just reinforced my belief that we do not have freewill and everything is determined from the outset.

No,I haven't read the book.I just know my own heart, that's all.
It's an interesting theory...actually,reflecting upon that,I have what could be seen as an inverted prejudice.I'm usually strongly-attracted to "another tribe" and recoil at the very thought of getting involved with a local :D

I'm not politically correct by any means but I am uncomfortable about using racial insults, it's a bit low to me. How some people can get into positions of responsibility is a mystery as in many people a sense of responsibility, intelligence and common sense are the factors which appear to be absent.

TBH,because the actual word used was bleeped out in the video,we only have the text account of the actual word used.
So,maybe the judge is being scapegoated afterall. You know how it goes - people will watch the video and conclude the censored word was the n-bomb.
It was more her attitude toward the officer that was offensive, imo. She has issues which emerged during a state of drunkenness & I wouldn't want her presiding at my trial, would you? < is a question not adversarial in tone.

Of course if she is drunk and knows the law, she should be held accountable, but the word come on...if she said the latter word and it was bleeped I guess the prosecutor is hoping to get lucky with a jury or judge conviction for political correctness. I think that is like railroading, perhaps that prosecutor is eyeballing that judges seat and he wants it? I dunno...I haven't seen any tape of the incident. If the judge's decorum was not professional as is shown she should be disbarred for trying to weasel out of a ticket.

The video is embedded in this article.Tons of it is bleeped, actually:

Maybe there's an un-bleeped version somewhere.
From the article:
"Cofield also is heard twice on the video using the racial term "n-----.""
Except she isn't cos it's bleeped.
