Ominously, the bill also states that the camps can be used to “meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security,” an open ended mandate which many fear could mean the forced detention of American citizens in the event of widespread rioting after a national emergency or total economic collapse.

Astounding!

I don't want to take away from the importance of this, but....

this is not law. It is a proposed Congressional legislation that hasn't even gotten to the point of being able to be voted on. It has been proposed by the same person, in both the 110th congress and the 109th. Both times, it was shot down without even making it to the point of being open for vote. Both times, there were a few cosponsors, this time... none. Granted, this has made it one step further this time, as it was sent to committees for review. The other two times it was shot down before it even reached that point.

Just keep in mind. This isn't law at this point. Ron Paul has gotten laws to this point many times that would have overthrown the Fed, restored the Constitution, and so on. It's good to keep a watch of this sort of thing, but don't start thinking that this is only now being implemented (the same law has been pushed by the same person for years), or that it's existence in it's current form means that it is law.

Now... if it passes through the process of committees and goes to the point of being eligible for vote. Then is when we all need to REALLY freak out.
