I am researching info on a possible secret military base or camp (or something) in the mountain area very close to Powell River, BC, Canada, just north of Vancouver on the Pacific Coast. I am wondering if anyone has any information, as i cant find anything except the info below.
I grew up in Powell River. Some time around 1978 we heard that the ferry had a been closed off for most of the day to transport dangerous cargo.
The town is only accessible by ferry or small plane, but is not an island, it's just a very remote place with no proper roads into the town. Even today, 2009 there are no roads in.
Anyhow, my parents owned a few acres of property out towards the area in question and my father said he saw military vehicles coming from the ferry terminal and turning up a logging road. The ferries didn't report any other closers to allow these vehicles to return from where ever they came from, so one can only assume they stayed there in the woods.
As i grew older i started to think maybe it was a myth, but one day as a teenager i overheard a few loggers talking about the same incident. They added that there were areas now banned from logging, complete with fenced off roads.
I didn't hear anything more about it until last year, when my husband was chatting with a few guys at work. These guys love to talk about conspiracy theories. They were talking about secret interment camps in north america and one guy said there was one up by Powell River. When my husband told me (jokingly) i told him what I knew about military trucks disappearing into the forest.
So we did a google map search of the area, which is just a little north east of Saltery Bay Ferry terminal. Interestingly if you zoom in on the map it goes grey, everything around is visible at close range. Its just that few square miles in question that are blocked. However, if you zoom back out to a spot that you can see green land, it is easy to see that there are cleared land areas and roads. This could all be clear cut logging areas, but it does support the theory of a camp being there.
One side note of interest about Walt Disney. I noticed that David Icke's refers to him as illuminati. Anyhow, Walt Disney sailed to Powell River (Lund Marina) and stayed for 2 weeks in the late 60s. Some people say he frequently came on his boat prior to that.
If anyone has any info to share with me on this, I would really appreciate it.
