Baphomet, taken from a french corruption of the name Mahomet, and then tortured from Templars.
Never trusted words that came from men being tortured. Always this problem with the stories not matching up and such. Almost as if they were just telling their torturers anything to get them to stop.
As for it's current interpretation, it's sorta hard to keep current these days with so many new interpretations of old World symbols and ideas. It's almost impossible to keep track of.
