I realise this may be nothing, but I just noticed that Obama is being sworn in as the 44th president of the states and was wondering if anyone out there knew if this had any masonic or other significance considering the importance of numbers within the Illuminati etc. Just curious :)

Just my two cents...I'm not guru in these areas, but this is what I think..

44 is a collection of 11's.

11/9/1989 - Berlin wall
9/11/2001 - US attack
4/11/1990 - Gorbechev states: "We are only beginning to shape the new world order."
9/11/1990 - Bush, Sr. states: "Out of these troubled times we can see a new world order coming into view.
11/11/1918 - WWI declared over on the eleventh hour.

There are a number of references in the Bible.
It seems that the number 11 signifies the coming of an anti-christ.
Rev. 17:12 and Daniel 7:8 - The 11th horn of the beast that arises in the end-time is the master of intrigue anti-christ.

“Master Numbers” are those with double digits, i.e. 11, 22, 33, 44... Supposedly, these Master Numbers have a greater significance, and refer to characteristics beyond mundane experiences. In a manner of speaking, these are the higher octaves, harmonics, of experiences. But they are also sometimes just potentialities, which are never quite attained -- after which they single digit number which they add to, becomes the dominant factor.

You're right Joy...however, we are to be as wise as serpents remember? Numerology and Symbology are these people's first language. In order to interpret their speech, we must understand the language they speak (imo).
