About two weeks ago a friend of mine got half of her face paralyzed and a bit swollen. There's no too apparent cause. Couple of nights before it happened she didn't have a place to sleep, so she stayed on couch in a hotel. Could be that that had something to do with it, stress, cold, lack of sleep.

As I said, it's been two weeks already. She's back home in mainland China. She's getting face massages and some electric stimulation therapy at the hospital every day. But her condition doesn't seem to be getting better.

But there has to be a way. Some "alternative" healing method. The body is a hologram, so it shouldn't be too hard to fix it. I've lately been reading Icke's Infinite Love is the Only Truth Everything else is Illusion. Without the main stream medicine conditioning there must be something someone can do. Anyone have any ideas? Any experience with stuff like this?

I'm not sure if she's tried acupuncture. She being Chinese and all that would be a logical step, if she hasn't.

She may have been bitten by a bug & had a nasty reaction to it:confused: Hopefully she didn't have a mild stroke . Did the doc at the hospital not have an explanation for it? If electrical stimulation is not fixing things, then I doubt acupuncture would work either. its pretty hard to suggest a treatment, if we don't know what the cause of it is.:)

I don't think the doc had an explanation. I should ask my friend for more info. She also takes some kind of pills, I should ask her what they're called.

She also said that there are many others in the hospital with similar problems, but many others are reacting better to the treatment. I wonder if it's all because of the same reason or is the cause different?

Thanks for your concern.

Sounds like Bell's Palsy, a condition caused by the facial nerves becoming inflamed, but a true cause of often hard to find.

It usually last a month to six weeks and your friend might need some mepore tape to keep her eye on the paralysed side shut while she's asleep, until the ilness wears off

Bell's Palsy, Mepore tape? Ok I'll keep that in mind. I checked some info on Bell's Palsy, sort of seems like that could be it. Have to talk to her about it when I have the chance.

she could have had a stroke

What if she had one? What then?

Thanks everyone for advice. Prove to me that this forum is really good for something, and not just far fetched theories and accusations. If she is being treated by main stream doctors, they don't know nothing. If there's anything I can do to help her, I'll do it.

My first thought was also Bell's Palsy.

About two years ago, I woke up with a runny eye and I only realised I couldn't move it after I tried to apply my mascara. I went to the Doctors and he told me it was conjunctivitus but when I woke up the following day with a droopy mouth on the same side I went straight to the hospital. It does look like you've had a stroke, you can't close your eye or smile/talk/drink properly. My Brother very kindly nicknamed me Elvis due to the strange lip curl I acquired when trying to smile!

I was told it can be caused by many things - a virus, a bang to the head or stress. They said it was probably because I sleep with my window open during Winter but I'm not sure I believe that.

It's not a very nice thing to happen but it does go away..some people have it for years but mine only lasted 2 months xx

**EDIT** - You say a lot of people at the hospital have the same symptoms? That's a bit strange and makes me think it isn't Bell's as it's not that common and you can't catch it. Though if she did have a stroke I'm sure that would be diagnosed by a Doctor right away with scans etc (they did that for me) so I think you can rule that out. A course of steriod tablets may help but really she just has to wait it out.

i know this may be a long shot but you mentioned your friend slept on a couch the night before this happened to her face was it a leather one ? just remember hearing some thing on the news before Xmas about leather sofas being recall because of chemicals they used

could only find this link to add it is worth reading

I hope I'll be able to talk to her tomorrow and gain more info. And I hope she's willing to share all the details. She's supposed to stay away from electrical device, because of the electro therapy at the hospital, I think. So I don't see her online that often.

I think it was a leather sofa. The suggestion seems far fetched and I don't think it's that, but long shots are appreciated also.

Just tell her to eat only raw and organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Focusing more on the fruits and vegetables, and green juices, she will be fine. It really is as simple as that (as long as she stops doing whatever caused this, which is likely bad diet, exposure to toxins, stress, etc.)

Subject: Affected by Equal

I have had many of the same symptoms as listed in the other letters including headaches, muscle weakness, short term memory loss, depression. But what really gave me a wake up call was the Bells Palsy. Bells Palsy is the unexplained paralysis of one side of the face. I started using Equal when it first started getting popular. I started with the headaches, then the short term memory loss and depression but not wanting to link it to Equal. Then the muscle weakness started with tingling in the back of my head and I started thinking it may be linked to the use of the equal but still continued to use it. Then (about 5 years ago) I woke up one morning with no control of the left side of my face. The Doctors diagnosis was Bell Palsy. They said they don't know what causes it. Since then I stop using Equal and the headaches stop, my short term memory has improved, the depression has stopped, the muscle weakness has stopped, the tingling is gone and the facial paralysis is 95% recovered. Unfortunately the facial paralysis will not 100% recover. After some time had passed since I had stopped using Equal I was curious if it really had something to do with the things I was experiencing so I started using it to see if it was all in me head. Within a few days I started having the headaches and tingling in the back of my head again. I know it's not in my head now it definitely is the Equal.

Subject: Aspartame poisoning

Since I can remeber I have always drunk diet drinks had sugar free sweets and other food products. About 6 years ago I experienced severe fatigue, loss of feeling and tingling in my fingers and down one side of my body. I even experienced paralysis in my legs. I was sent to see a neurologist and he put me through lots of tests suspecting that I had MS. All tests came back negative. My Mum then met a lady who had MS and told her about aspartame. I then cut it out of my diet completely and my symptoms disappeared. I have been fine since.

I think it's Bells Palsy too. Does she recall being bitten by a tick? Did she visit a woodland area? She will improve. Almost all cases of Bells Palsy are viral, though as one person above wrote their case was brought on by a reaction to Equal.

Try contacting David Ickes friend Mike Lambert ( information about him can be found elsewhere on this site).

He is a healer and alternative therapist.

I used to work with a guy who would always drive with the window open, even in winter, he ended up with Bells Palsy, lasted for about three months. The doctor that he saw said it was caused by the continual cold air blowing into his face.

Hope your friend gets better soon. :D

Sounds exactly like Bell's Palsy i agree.

I had this for about a month when i was at school. I was just sat in class listening to the teacher talking when i realised when i blinked my right eye didnt close so i touched my face and realised that when i smiled the right side didnt move, i was scared to say the least! I hid it till i got home and when my Mum took me to the doctor he said it was indeed Bell's Palsy and would take as long as it takes to get batter. was hell for a 15 year old as you can imagine....but it completely disappeared and i've never had a problem since :)

My Aunty also got this a few years back but her's has never gone again completely, maybe age dictates how quick it passes.

I hope your friend isn't too worried and gets better soon :)

Sounds nice. I haven't been able to talk to my friend in several days, but I hope I'll talk to her soon.

I think she's only going to western medicine doctors, but I'm not sure. I think that especially the kind of problem she has would be better suited for Chinese medicine. And finding Chinese medicine doctors shouldn't be too difficult in China.

Thanks everyone for your concern.

Just walk up and stab her in the neck and be like "How you like me NOW, beyotch!!!" That will take her mind off it.

Thats what they say, when they don't have a clue what the problem is. Doctors are so egotistical, that they would never admit to not knowing.

We are already know she has facial nerve paralysis, but whats the cause and how does it get cured.

I have no patience for doctors anymore.

Yup. I don't trust main stream western medicine except in very clear cut issues, like if I had a bullet in my gut, I think they'd be the best ones to help me.

My friend said she's being treated by both western and Chinese medicine. I'm afraid that maybe Chinese medicine is doing her some good, but western medicine is erasing those effects. But if I tell her maybe she'll just worry more.

She said she has trouble closing her eyes, so I told her about Mepore tape. I hope she acquires it and it helps.

Hagbard mentioned it on the first page. It's surgical tape or something.

That's right. Sorry I should have clarified:o. It's like selotape, but it's designed to stick to the skin. It comes in rolls like selotape and you can buy it from any chemists shop.
