Cherries and berries

A study released this week found that eating cherries could reduce cholesterol, lower blood sugar and increase production of a molecule that helps the body handle fat and sugar. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries on the other hand are packed with nutrients like vitamin C and disease-fighting antioxidants. So make the most of these delicious treats this summer.

salmon
As well as containing lots of vital omega-3 fatty acids (which are good for the health of your heart and brain), salmon is also full of vitamin A for your immune system as well as your hair, bones, skin and teeth, B vitamins and calcium, iron, magnesium and folate. The Food Standards Agency recommends eating two portions of oily fish a week.

avocados
The next person that tells you avocados are full of fat and therefore bad for you, hit them over the head. Avocados are in fact rich in monounsaturated fat, which increases levels of good cholesterol in your system. They promote heart health, absorption of essential vitamins and carotenoids from vegetables.

whole grains
A whole grain is one that has the bran, germ and endosperm in tact. Whole grains are a good source of fibre, B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium, iron and fibre. Good sources include brown rice, oats, barley and popcorn.

Human footprint: your life in numbers (http://health.uk.msn.com/healthencyclopaedia/features/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=4770688)Frozen yoghurt tastes just like ice cream, but is fat-free, full of healthy bacteria and low in calories. So, isn't it about time you switched?

When we know that fizzy drinks are fattening, coffee is unhealthy and even smoothies attack your teeth,(ES empahsis not if it's 100% fruit :) ) water remains the only fool-proof fluid.

An apple a day does indeed keep the doctor away. In fact, apples are considered a 'whole body' superfood because there are very few parts of the body that do not benefit from them. Apples lower cholesterol, improve bowel function and protect the body from prostate and lung cancer, asthma and diabetes. Apples are also an essential part in any weight loss programme and have been linked with the prevention of Alzheimer's disease

Tomatoes
It is ironic that tomatoes were once considered to be poisonous, as today they are thought to be one of the most powerful superfoods. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a strong antioxidant thought to prevent the growth of cancer cells. Tomatoes are also rich in vitamin C and a number of other health-boosting nutrients

greens
If you were to think of foods as medicine, then green leafy vegetables would be amongst the best. Spinach, chard, chicory and other leafy veg are rich in fibre, calcium and vitamins A, C and K and carotenoids to fight cance

Hemp seed, dates, blue berries, garlic, eggs...

Watch out for anything not actualy organic esspecialy certain fruits like strawberries and peaches and certain vegtables (greens) because they hold pesticide inside and washing them does not help(real organic no longer exists under US fascism), farm raised salmon and food containing gluton (esspecialy white bread)

Could I please have a reference pointer to this study please?

An example of what I am looking for. There does not have to be a book reference ISBN as the study could also have been conducted by a university or an external medical establishment.

Joint WHO/FAO expert consultation (1998), Carbohydrates in human nutrition, chapter 1. ISBN 92-5-104114-8.

This is a genuine request as I have studied this subject matter for years so I am always interested in new studies.

Cheers.

:)
