I have just been listening to Radio 5 and they had the Chief Constable of Preston police force as a guest.
They are arresting people on the streets of Preston for using bad language in public. They are also prepared to arrest people who are swearing in a football ground too. This seems to me a case of more civil liberties being eroded.

Havnt the Police got anything better to do?.
whilst i agree the police have got better things to do
its pretty horrible when you are standing in a primary school playground with your 5 year old and some 'mother' next to you saying 'and the fucking c### of a social worker can fuck off' and doesnt even have the sense to realize this is inappropriate

They cant touch me mate, its me fucking culture init?
If I swear in the pivacy of my own conversation with another and a cop asks me to stop then I will not. I will tell him/her to leave me alone as I have done nothing wrong. I will ask if I am under arrest and if so, what charge? If I am not then I will tell them that I dont want to include them in my private conversation and ask for a warrent from them if they wish to stand there and listen in. I will be recording the conversation from that point on. I will point out that I dont want to include the cop so they should leave now. :) Piece of cake.

Banning certain words in public is a stepping stone to taking away our freedom of speech. And the sheeple are gonna blame the cops, when in fact it's the PTB who are the REAL culpriits.

You have a good point. I do tend to swear a lot and my girlfriend has a kid and I try my best not to when Im around her, it really annoys me when Im on a bus or train and people swear with no regard for children or the elderly, Its just basic respect for people.

My b/f almost got nicked for swearing once when he was rather peeved at getting a ticket...
What drove me wild with rage, is after I had retorted that the little men in little suits dont have anything better to do with their time, the officer told me to go fuck myself and have a nice day!!
Oh the hypocracy.
Pillars of society eh?

sounds like the type of guy who will find himself laying dead with a bullet hole in the head sometime in the future .We create our own reality and i dont like the look of his. people choose sides thinking they can be saved but fear isnt going to save anyone come the future :D

Yes, as it is the only way that I can get the child to know me. The problem is that the child or rather the child that is not my own will get an impresion of me that has been tainted by the beliefs that swearing is bad. But why should I lie for that child?

I know what you are on about.
But I have three sprogs of my own. I have not stopped the amount of swearing that I did, or used to do before them and indeed, I think my swearing has increased (though not due to them).
They just know, or rather have been conditioned by mum ( a christian beliver) and the schooling sytem and telly.
I have had a kid come up to me and ask over the cunt word and I explained to them the truth. I said that the word cunt is one of those words that have changed meaning over the years. It was a term used by people to describe someone that has a sword slash after a battle. He has a cunt in him. I then tell them that there is such a sword as the bastard sword, it was said that it got its name by the fact that the sword would kill the father of a lad that would have to bury him thereby making the son a bastard, which is not exactly true because a bastard is someone born with out a a father. I then tell them that the cunt word later turned into the silly word used today to describe the mee mee, or mini (words I use to describe the little girls pee pee) that girls have bellow. I then say that they dont like this and it should be avoided. (or words to that effect)
I use all the words that he never often hears or hears out of context, and never at him, so he is happy. It seems to work when you tell them the truth.

Yea also. It's just a vibration of sound. It's totally subjective so if you have a problem with swearing, that is your own personal issue.
but how do you answer a 5 year old who asks what fuck or cunt means
Educate them. Your own insecurities/issues.
By the way I recognize that this is my own perspective and belief, you may think that a child needs to be innocent or something I understand I'm not looking for an argument I just wanted to express my opinions.

no i dont think children should be innocent if they ask then there ready to know but it should be at a level they can comprehend
and i dont have a problem with swearing myself but being called a fucking cunt by a 3 year old isnt the best
especially when im not being one!;)
