"South Carolina Considers Law That Would Criminalize Profanity In Public Forums
Slashdot points us to an immensely troubling law being proposed by a state Senator in South Carolina that would make it a felony to use profanity in a public forum, whether written or spoken (so assume the internet is included). Punishment could include fines up to $5000 or prison sentences up to 5 years in length."

It seems that this particular Senator is being too honest for his own good
regarding the agenda to silence "freedom of speech", does he think this is a
votewinner? audacity of the tossers in power!

Not a bad idea, but they should make the punishment severe. Waterboarding for the first offence. Repeat offenders show be administered proper penalties. Maybe public castration on TV. A new reality show perhaps. That should get everyones full attention.

Aye, and it's just a coincidence that we have this headline on one of the top daily papers in the UK today:
SWEARING NOW THE BLIGHT OF BRITAIN

Another infringement.
The Japanese government is considering a new law to make everyone use their real name on the Internet as they are afraid of people using aliases to avoid incitement and libel. Already law in S/K apparently. In ten years all our posts may have to include our real name, home and business address, telephone number and contact numbers for relatives.
So don't swear, soon everyone will know who dropped the F-bomb. :p

To be on the safe side. If it happened a Forum can be programmed to block out certain words when typed - Example 4 letter word beginning with F - $*^%

Exactly! Furthermore, if it really is a problem there is software one can install on your computer that will prevent you seeing profanities.
Of course, we all know this is about censoring the net.
