Where did we come from? What is the true history of humankind? Michael A. Cremo and Richard L. Thompson challenge the prevailing theory of Darwinian evolution with their ground breaking work Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race.

"Hidden Archeology" is a lovely and entertaining piece of fiction, nothing more.
A nice detailed review of the book can be found here:
http://www.ramtops.co.uk/tarzia.html (http://www.ramtops.co.uk/tarzia.html)
Despite all this hard work, I think the book falls short of a scientific work primarily (but not entirely) because (1) its arguments abandon the testing of simpler hypothesis before the more complex and sensationalistic ones, and (2) the use of so many outdated sources is inadequate for a book that seeks to overturn the well-established paradigm of human evolution -- scholars must not work in isolation, especially today, when multi-disciplinary approaches are needed to remain on the cutting edge of knowledge. However, for researchers studying the growth, folklore, and rhetoric of pseudo-science, the book is useful as ‘field’ data.
I hesitate in judging the book to be utterly worthless from a scientific standpoint -- various specialists need to compare notes on the book -- but if worthy ideas exist in Forbidden Archaeology , they are hidden under a mass of undisciplined details, lack of critical contextual information, leaps of logic, and special pleading.

Just a reminder, this sub-forum is not for dissecting the work of the various researchers who are included here. It is purely for highlighting the work these researchers present. If you wish to start a thread to discuss whether Cremo's work is fiction or not, you may do so in the conspiritainment sub-forum.
Besides, do you know what forum you are on? I'm afraid there are few here would take seriously a review from a mainstream Archaeology 'poo-pooer' who goes by the name of "Doug", whom has such sub-categories on his site as "Archaeological/Skeptical Resources, Critiques of cult archaeology, Roman Britain links". ;)

Thanks for posting these, I've been toying with buying this book for a couple of years and it has just renewed my interest.
I read in Jim Marrs book ruled by secrecy an extract that is in forbidden archaeology about an independent researcher Thomas E Lee of the National museum of Canada
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_E._Lee
who discovered advanced stone tools, that were at least 65 000 years old and probably around 125. 000 years old which contradicted conventional theories, this man was hounded from his position, his work misrepresented and no one would publish his findings and most of the artifacts disappeared into storage bins and the museum director was fired to refusing to fire thomas lee.
These are not isolated cases, the scientific community is controlled and there is a knowledge filter which screens out unwelcome evidence.
Certain Scientific institutions such as the National Geographic Society have been set up by the elite for the purpose of debunking distorting or ignoring any scientific data that tends to enlighten people about our true origins.
