I love this guy, but he's a bit fixed in his world view . . .

Gotta love that Northern charm, though :D

Ive watched a lot of stuff with Brian Cocks (deliberate spelling mistake) and he's a 'repeater' a mainstream, reading off the same script brainwashed indoctrinated scientist!
He works for Cern and has done for years, and has become the BBC's 'hip young scientist' to appeal to the youngsters and further brainwash them too! I watched a documentry hosted by him the other week (the big bang machine) and he just seemed to ramble on about quantum physics with no real direction or conclusion and kept dropping in how clever he was coz he knows what makes up the standard model...bosons, guons, tao neutrino's etc etc...woopy doo- its not rocket science...i taught myself! He had to get a degree!
He also scoffs at the moon landings being described as fake..i saw a clip where he gets quite irrate about it!! lol!

Here's the clip of that.

I'd expect better arguments from a genius (he's an expert on gravity, apparently) but he still cracks me up.
Presumably, as the friendly face of modern science, he'll get aproached by a lot of people with ideas that he doesn't want anything to do with.
I can imagine a Morcambe and Wise sketch unfolding every time he tries to go for a quiet drink in the pub.

I wouldn't take it too personaly :D
There's no way that the average person can prove or disprove much in quantum physics unless it's psychic experiments to test some of the implications.
Remember all those times when you had a really interesting idea in an altered state and tried to explain it to someone?
This looks so familiar . . .

I like the bit where he "zips his lips up" at 0.53

The guy is a complete tool and to be honest, comes across as knowing jack shit but having a couple of weak tricks up his sleeve when he's backed into a corner.

Na, dont like him. Like Lottie says, a mainstream scientist with a perpetual grin on his face.
No ability to think for himself, just able to regurgitate, and yes, I feel he was chosen for his youth and looks so it gives him more credibility

Yeah, AND he said the Mayans were sensible. Has the guy even *seen* Appocalypto?
Seriously though, in the gravity wave clip, he makes the classical body language for 'I'm telling a big naughty fib' whilst he's saying "we don't move anything through the space time" and makes the "zip it" gesture.
Watch it from about 0.48 and it will be obvious.
After that he get's kind of "Darlings I can't work in these conditions"
What's all that about?

LOL!! i just watched it again, what a spoilt little brat, why cant he get that he's meant to be a scientist and trying to explain scientific explanations to people (like the camera man) isnt going to be easy...he's like...'you're thick coz you dont get it'... he should appreciate that its a hard concept for him let alone other people to grasp and tbh im not sure he knows, he's just regurgitating what he was told at uni and never asked 'why' or 'how'...it just 'is'!
He's a plank!

So you don't think he looks like he's hiding something?
I thought he looked like he had a load of more interesting theories on his mind and he was telling himself "Don't go there! Stick to the script!"
Iether that or there's stuff going on which we're not allowed to know about.

I'm feeling a bit guilty about the body language reading now. It was an invasion of privacy, since the clips were never intended for broadcast.
My apologies to proffesor Brian Cox and to people who work for TV and humane areas of the sciences. I couldn't deal with the stresses of that kind of work.
I was just a bit incredulous to see a leading physicist making a Dr Evil style "zip it" gesture followed by a personality change.
I suppose the media must have conditioned me to be unsympathetic towards that kind of thing.

This guy seems to like the word "Twat" a lot. I'm a twat cos I don't believe in the moon landings and worry about the LHC already, so what am I now? A twat-twat-twat?:D
I find his debunking of the Mayan calender based on the number of fingers and toes humans have almost endearingly naive:o. Maybe he's been studying physics so closely for so many years that he's been blinklered to other subjects. He can't see the wood for the trees!
