Recently, if anyone saw my 2009 resolution thread, Ive been starting to excercise vigorously, cardio and muscle building, and eat raw foods (fruits, veggies, some steamed rice with steamed veggies on top sometimes), with the hypothesis that my brain cannot be "in-shape", so to speak, if my body, that thing that is physically supporting my brain, is not! It has only been 5 days since I started acting on my new years resolutions, and I am shocked at the results thus far.
My physical, mental, and emotional energy is up, WAY up compared to what I usually deem "normal" for me (which is usually a state of fatigue/depression), and Im noticing that the "brain fog" is beginning to lift... brain fog which I didnt think I had, before it started to lift!
Just one very small example: when I hear music, such as tracks I have heard tens of times before... I hear more than I used to, and it almost seems like Im listening to a whole new song! The only way I can describe it is if you have two photos, one a low res, and the other a high res. Both are pictures of the exact same thing, but with the high res photo, you are capable of seeing so much more detail than in the low res. Its like this for music, all of a sudden! I cant remember this ever happening to me before. Its great! Tones I never recognized before (or could not mentally process along with the other tones playing at the same time)... are just jumping out at me! I think I am getting smarter, and it feels good!
Also, I am able to concentrate better, visualize stronger, and read text noticably faster than 6 days ago.
Anyway, what are other peoples thoughts on the brain following the body? Now, obviously, the brain tells the body what to do, but my thought is that even though the brain has the final say, both are synergetic to one another, and the state of one correlates to some degree with the state of the other. This system of working also includes emotional, and spiritual states as well.
To discuss:
Does the brain gain from having a physically fit body?
Is the reverse true, that the body gains from having a mentally fit mind?
Are all four basic states (as I see them, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Could be more, but these four for the sake of argument) intrinsically linked to one another, and anything you do to one, in some way and degree, effects the other three?
Has anyone else had any personal experiences with what I am describing?
Is the almost total lack of physical fitness in America (and the UK to a lesser extent (not sure) ?) of the general public a massive problem in terms of realizing what is really going on behind the scenes?
Is the war against our minds mainly fought through the war against our bodies, assuming that a poorly maintained body is unconducive of clear, rational thought?
In support to point #6: Everyday we are bombarded with advertisements to eat fastfood, live a sendentary lifestyle on the couch infront of the propaganda box, drink liquor with friends at bars, get shit faced, and then be "out of it" for two days while recovering from a hangover, and finally, being force fed the PC view that everyones body is "OK", demotivating us from actually trying to change it, ie, get in shape and live and feel better! Ive even seen obesity glorified by some people, showing "pride in who they are".
I always write more than I think I am going to. But anyway, again...
