Quite soon I have to consider whether my baby will have a heel prick test to test for certain illnesses (e.g. sickle cell anaemia, cystic fibrosis ++)
Any advice, concerns I should be made aware of?
Also, do you think the sample is kept and a DNA sample taken? Wouldn't surprise me!
Cheers

I know In Australia that they keep the sample in a data base. I guess it would be world wide.
Tell them to fuck off or you will sue the director of the hospital. Put it in writing.
If your babe feeds on breast milk for a good 6 months and is healthy. Then no problems. Go to your local MD after awhile ( If you and the Missus are concerned) and get a test then and if I was you NO vaccinations.

Cheers Boots. I have made my mind up on vaccinations anyway after reading a couple of books on it. Notice only today that the BBC are promoting MMR vaccine again due to an (other) impending measles epidemic!! Let's see whether this one transpires.

Vaccines and k-vit shots are bad for child (even for adults).
Manufactured and developed by Mengeles pupils and likeminded.
Stay away from the System as much as you can is my advice.
They are going down soon just hang in there.

No worries.:)
In Australia they splashed across the news how Whooping cough is becoming an epidemic:rolleyes:. Showing pic of babies coughing their heart's out. Truth be know, it was from the vaccines themselves.
So it's measles in the UK and whooping cough in OZ.:(

The only reason why you might do it is to be sure baby doesn't have PKU, which means baby can't digest the amino acid phenylalanine that is in breastmilk, which is very, very rare, but can cause brain damage.
When I was pregnant with my second, another mom urged me to get the heel prick because her child was brain damaged and if she had gotten him tested, she wouldn't have breastfed him and spared him brain damage. Babies with PKU can avoid damage by going on a special diet.
I tried to get a nurse to come to my home to do it, and it never happened.
Both of my kids are healthy and fine. I think the risk of PKU is really, really low. I'd check your family history for brain damage, and if there's none, don't get the heel prick. I'm sure the DNA banks are for every baby's blood test.
Trusting in God and the body's natural abilities are what kept me rested assured. Women have been giving birth to healthy babies for thousands of years before modern medicine.
