Is this the cult that River Phoenix and his family were part of?
If so, they sexually abused him in it, so it's definitely a cult.
Joaquin Phoenix hasn't been looking too good in the media lately either.
Apparently he's trying to quit hollywood, like his brother, but it doesn't seem to be going well.

Phoenix frequently spoke positively of his childhood and non-traditional upbringing. He rarely talked about the cult, however, once saying angrily, "They're disgusting, they're ruining people's lives"

I saw a documentary about the cult not long ago. Child abuse is pretty common in the cult. The kids are raised in a dormitory and start having sex with their "nannies" before they can walk!
The Story of Davidito is one of the more nauseating things that has come out.
