What's up with the British?

I find it ironic that the place in which the book 1984 took place is the exact place where the same exact thing is happening. You guys are on the cusp of the full Big Brother society, and is anyone doing anything about it?

Where I live, it is getting crazier by the day. People here are totally away with the fairies. Cameras are popping up like mushrooms. You can't go anywhere without them. My 5 year old and I have started 'watching them watching us' now - and they don't like it! I have been taking photos of cameras, and within minutes we always get harassed. Which is fine - then I can have a rant at them!! I have started shouting at people in the streets the last few weeks - they are like zombies, bless them!! :0 Maybe they'll end up coming for me with the little white van and the straightjacket, but I have HAD ENOUGH of all these sleeping sheep walking blithely into the ovens here...! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!! I want my clean air back!! I want to be able to enjoy a good meal without feeling sick because of the waste I am producing (try buying *anything* to eat without a sea of plastic packaging here any more - it's quite a job, I'm telling you!)

I am not usually like this, but the constant erosion of our human rights and dignity, and the sheer madness of the World is just too much at the moment!!

England is a country divided. During the 80's under Margeret Thatcher, the north suffered greatly. Industry was closed down and i wonder how many remember the miners strike. The north was crippled with high unemployment and civil unrest. But the south prospered, because thatcher decread the south was someway more important than people in the north. In one of her famous speeches, she said the north must suffer for the south to prosper. Did we hear any of our brothers and sisters in the south even fart over this statement, did we fuck. The south was very happy with this arrangement and the people grew fat and arrogant.

The class system divides us too, each acting as a seperate entitiy, selfishly gaurding it's own turf, if you like. The attitude is generally, an i'm all right jack attitude. People wont come together, we are divided. With the influx of immigrants we are divided again. With groups within the immigrant communities divided against each other, over caste, religion or colour they too are divided. The north vote labour habitually, simply because they were fucked by the conservatives, the south is turning back to the conservatives. Big brother tv keeps us all tranced in the lives of nobodies, who mean nothing to us, communities dont speak anymore, families are breaking down. pfft and you wonder why nothing is being s done lol...people have so many obsticles to overcome, before they can come together as a unified force:rolleyes:

I think most british know somthing isnt right but have never looked into it or found davids work. bear in mind how busy average joe is with the longest working hours in europe.

Things are changing. One million people protesting in London before the invasion of Iraq and large protests across the rest of the country for starters. Nothing that big had been seen before. The large swell in revolt and protests aimed at ending poverty that had real power before Sir Bob and Bono steered it to nowhere. I'm noticing ever increasing alarm at the Orwellian society in people. There's a decent sized anti ID card movement. There was a huge rebellion against microchipping bins with people removing and destroying the chips in large numbers particularly in the Bournemouth area (Tories y'know).

Things are happening but we're a polite and mild mannered country and we're a little bit slow and embarrassed to get out there and do our thing. But we have our David Icke's and our Brain Haw's. Give us time. Be gentle with us. We'll get there. :)

I'm almost sure there was a mass protest against the ID cards in London some years ago, which may have helped stop them bringing in the ID cards.

It was not all sweetness and light darn sarf ya know. I was struggling to raise two kids with the missus and unemployment was rife in London and the home counties not to mention elsewhere in the south. I remember very well not having a pit to piss in for most of the 80's.

Thatcher and her cronies hated everybody who wasn't a right wing neo fascist bastid.
