I dont know if this is the right place, but someone put some posters up in here about breast feeding and it made me wonder why, women would think it WAS NOT a good idea to breastfeed and why they do not think it is important and that other animals milk is superior?????

I thought it was just a personal choice to do with women not wanting a baby latching onto their breasts-either that or they've been strongly misinformed that formula or animal milk is better for their baby? As far as im aware Breast is Best!! (Unless you're an alcoholic or drug addict or on prescribed mediaction thats harmful to your baby via breastmilk! ) :)

why do you ask lyrag?

Well im not breastfeeding or pregnant or have kids if thats what your asking?

I was just wondering, i have heard all the pros for breastfeeding and there doesnt seem any negatives, so, just why people think its not a good idea to breast feed,

I've been doing a lot of research in to breastfeeding lately since I'll be a parent come February, and I could talk to you for hours about the benefits of breastfeeding and tell you the benefits of bottle feeding in one sentence.

There are no benefits to bottle feeding your child, the only people that will benefit are the big phama companies that make the formula.

And the eugenicists.

These days with all the poisons in our foods and water and air and lotions and potions our bodies consume/absorb i expect foetus/babies' development in the womb is very different to that of a baby say 100 years ago?!! Stands to reason that with all the crap we're absorbing/ingesting that we're passing on that crap to our babies through our breast milk also!

I've known a few women who bottle-fed precisely because they got so sick of what they felt were "breast is best" evangelists imposing their views on them.

There's an interesting discussion here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2007/nov/08/breastisntalwaysbest

That is testament to the absolute stupidity of many people. They threaten the wellbeing and very likely damage the health, of their children just because they think some people go on about something too much. Bloody fools.

I care not how I am preached to; I judge the message, and its merits, not the person preaching, or even their preaching style. To do so would be stupid.

I have learned many good things from people whom I absolutely despise.

I like pompous people, they're so unintentionally hilarious. :)

Great post! Good luck for February too!

I breast fed all my babies [5] and the special care baby unit too [I produced far too much milk for just my own, it was bottled for the SCBU].

I had babies that were content, slept through the night from birth, I never gave formula at all - at 6 months I mashed my own food and spoon fed that.

I'm sorry to say that the mums I met couldn't be bothered to breastfeed their babies. One woman said "these belong to my husband not my baby" can you believe that!

Breast is best and your baby will show the contentment they feel by the warmth of your body, the eye-to-eye contact as well as the nutrition and anti-bodies your breast milk provides.

But the animals in which the milk comes from are also exposed to this, does that not make it a duty to try and avoid as much as we can?

Thats horrid:eek:, so was the milk she was producing for her husband also??

I feel pity for them, its our culture that has shaped all these crazy upside down views away from what is natural, i find it very saddening that to follow nature is labelled as primitive and as a bad thing.

If people saw a woman breastfeeding a calf/kid, im sure she would be hated by alot of people, but for her child to drink a cows or goats milk is....'normal'?!

Good post. I too have heard other woman comment on how their breast are meant for their partners pleasure. It is amazing that we humans are the only species on the planet who give our children the milk of another species instead of our own.
