I am, being a hospital porter (This is what I am, just in case I hadn't mentioned it before:D;))

I'm working today! Yes some of us have to even on Christmas Day. Somebody has to look after you lot if you choke on a turkey bone or burn your hand of a hot mince pie. So give me an easy day, eh? Take care of yourselves!:p

Merry Christmas hagbard--sorry you have to work on Christmas, but I understand that people still get sick and need medical care even on holidays. :):D

Hope you have a great day!

I started at 8.00 am this morning and finish at 9.00 pm tonight.
In the middle of a three hour break right now, though.

I'll be celebrating the birth of he who was "born of the father before all ages," on Jan 7th. (Orthodox Christ-mass).

Sure. I wouldn't do it otherwise.
No need for sympathy. It was my choice to work today - could've had it off but I don't do Santamas.

In between clients, I did manage to pop in to the tiny chapel in Priddy, where Jesus came with Joseph of Arimathea, to clebrate a simple mass of his birth - beautiful!

It's a real blessing to be able to serve people today.

I feel sorry for those who are having to fake being nice to their family and to pretend to like their pressies!

No - thankfully not. Although I was supposed to be working on Christmas Eve, well I said I could anyway. Turns out I went out on the lash the night before and couldn't fucking get out of bed till 4:00 PM

Oh dear, I reckon I'm not Mister Popular at work. I expect to get the sack or something for Christmas :(

Bit of a silly thread really.
Those who are really working won't be on it!

Thanks for all your messages of support, guys. And season's greetings to everyone else who had to work.:) Pedi, Philldee3 (Phil, I read some of your posts in other people's quotes;) Seasaon of Goodwill etc:D) and anyone else.

I started the late shift at 2PM and worked through till 10. I found that an Asian shop I often stop in on my walk to work was open. The shopkeeper was dressed up in a suit; he's normally a bit scruffy! He's a Muslim, but still celebrates the birth of "Isa Salam". The A&E department was fairly quiet. We all put tinsel and holly in our hair (Well I didn't; I put it on my uniform:D) The patiensts were in a good mood considering their situation. There were a few kids there and I felt sorry for them. One was a 16 month old baby and this was his first Christmas he could really appreciate. Luckily he wasn't too serious and hopefully went home yesterday. At 18.30 a lady came in and her heart stopped. We managed to get it going again and she went off for an operation in the catheter laboratory. I don't know what became of her. I very rarely find out because the department is a bit like a production line. Once we've done our bit the patient is passed along to someone else and another one comes along. It was quiet after that and I even watched a bit of TV in the waiting room and chatted to the patients. I had some dinner, but the Christmas dinner was all gone by the timne I got to the canteen and I had to put up with cold salad buffet,:(. But there were ploenty of mince pies in the department. I got a lift home from my shift-senior porter and dettled down with David's Journeys with Rebecca interview and a bottle of whiskey given to me by my daughter's grandmother.

Whtever all other members were doing, I hope you had a nice day.:) Merry Christmas to you all.
