Hi, I haven't posted or been on the forum for ages. Now I work at home and I spend all day on my pc doing things online, I find it hard to use it for pleasure!

Happy Christmas :D

Got a question.... Have any of you noticed a difference after giving up aspartame, fluoridated toothpaste, MSG of aluminium based deodorant?

I can honestly say, that I have noticed no change after giving up aspartame or fluoride (which makes me question if they are that bad after all).

I have noticed feeling better after cutting out MSG though, I had a hangover at the weekend and had a Chinese and I have been feeling rough all week, and I realised that this happens every time after eating MSG.

Anyway, what do you reckon?

Aspartame is broken down by the body into formaldehyde (the same stuff they use to preserve dead bodies). Formaldehyde is a well known carcinogen. Most people are not aware they have cancer until size of the tumour starts to impact other areas.

Aluminium is heavily implicated in Alzheimers disease which generally does not rear its head until 60+ years.

These are not psychoactive chemicals, they are poisons or form poisons. You're not going to suddenly feel much different - but avoiding them you limit your chances of getting the above killer diseases.

When you say you have cut it out of your diet completely, how do you know this?

As almost all sweet foods now have it in, diguised in the ingredients as FLAVOURINGS. I can actually taste it in drinks and even REGULAR full fat COKE now has aspartame in, when i came back from holiday in Spain, i noticed the tell tale (non thirst quenching) aspartame taste in the UK coke, so looked at the back and what do you know, a drink with over 12 spoonfuls of sugar in every can now has FLAVOURINGS in. Whereas in Spain coke is still untouched and does still quench your thirst slightly.

Why would they need to add a sweetner to COKE? Only reason is to poison us IMO.

Crisps also have aspartame in, as well as MSG. Walkers Sensations have both, why they cant just use salt and sugar is beyond me.

So what i mean is, unless you make and prepare all your own food from scratch the likelihood of cutting it out completely is almost impossible.

Thanks for your feedback, I don't know if it's wierd, but I am a bit dissapointed that I have not noticed a difference. I think you are right though, it is more of an issue for children.

I was expecting to maybe feel more intelligent after using fluoride free toothpaste, the damage has obviously already been done :D

I suppose I was thinking that after a while, you might start noticing the fact that you are not assaulting your body with these toxic substances on a daily basis, I'm not about to start ingesting them again just to see if I feel worse though.

I don't let my son have aspartame either, I wopuld rather just give him fruit juice if he wants a sweet drink.

All this stuff about sugar and teeth is questionable I am 31, have no fillings, I have eaten loads of sugar, and when I was a complete grebo, I never used to brush my teeth, and I was also bulimic for years. I am in perfect dental health.

Fruit juices are also not safe fromthe aspartame meddlers.

I think dentists are the biggests charletans going. As a kid I never ate much in the way of sweets or suggary things at all, but every time I would go to the dentist out would come the drill and they would have a filling or tooth pulling frenzy. I could never get why they seemed so keen on decimating teeth that seemed to me to be perfectly fine.

You are so right, I have tasted things and spat them out, once you give up aspartame you can spot it straight away, and I am aware of the crisps.

I have been wondering why things need sugar and sweetners? Well, they obviously don't, I don't want to believe they are trying to poison us, but all the evidence we have certainly suggests that this is the case.

I have actually never worn deoderant/anti perspirant and i have been using fluoride free toothpaste for years now. i hate drinks w aspartame, its horrible, it straight up tastes like poison to me. i also have not ate a McDonalds hamburger in years. It's great, and i feel great, especially when i gear towards really healthy eating.

I talked my mom out of drinking diet cokes, and her essential tremor has greatly improved. Ive heard that its linked with that kind of crap and parkinsons and restless leg syndrome.

I dunno if any of you watch the show "You are what you eat," we get it here on BBC America and although i dont trust everything that woman says, i think she is right about one thing, certain starches are really bad. supposedly really bad startches (like too much white bread, even worse w/ loads of butter) make your feet stink/give you thrush/clog your gut etc.

One thing i want to stop eating soon is mechanically separated chicken, it just weirds me out, which means no more chicken mcnuggets, but it'll be alright.

Basically, what works best for me, and i would think most people, is learn to love your vegetables and fruits, and buy organic/fair trade whenever possible

I'm so glad I woke up to the hideous Aspartamine, Fluoride et cetera - even my children agree that their attention, concentration and energy is heeps better now. And I was hated for changing their diet initially!
