The MPs concluded that although Freemasonry was not a primary cause of the problems within the squad, "we cannot entirely exclude the possibility that it may have been a contributory factor".
So... no reason to blame them, but we will anyway.
Seems more to speak of the martial law people seem to be afraid of than a Masonic conspiracy.

I did a whole big response to this then I thought "no they can read about it themselves"
The facts, unedited and unaltered:

However, I will point out that Stalker in his book only suggested that Herman was a Mason colluding with other Masons. When the Manchester Evening News stupidly published the suggestion as fact they were successfully sued by Herman, why because he wasn't a Mason.

I recently read the parlimentary reports in full in the library. I actually felt sorry for Cmmd Higham for he seemed to be between a rock and a hard place. Anyhow it makes interesting reading, word for word questions and answers. I would suggest that going down to your library and reading it would be a worthwhile hour or so.
My only criticism is that the government seemed to assume that UGLE was the only masonic body in England.

Most of the papers are still on line but of course the majority of users here won't be bothered to look.

Well that was obvious! The Home Affairs Select Committee headed up by Chris Mullins ( I wonder if the ACP have written to him) were relying on the evidence of its expert witness Martin Short who, of course, based all of his work on that other expert Stephen Knight and who knows where he got his info.
