ok- you're all gonna hate me for bringing this crock of shit up but i just had to share with you how pathetic things have gotten in this country....
Big Brother contestant Emily Parr has been removed from the house after using a racially offensive word.
Emily was dancing with Charley and Nicky in the living room of the Big Brother house on Wednesday night when she was heard to use a racial slur.
Emily said: "Are you pushing it out, you nigger?" to Charley, while the pair were dancing in the living room.
She immediately made it clear that she had not intended to offend and that the comment had been meant as a joke.
In discussing what she had said, Charley and Nicky agreed that they were not personally offended, although both did express shock at the language she had used.
Following the incident Emily acknowledged that she should have been more careful with her words.
The comment was not screened as part of the 'as live' streaming on E4, but in consultation with senior executives at Channel 4 the decision was taken to remove Emily.
The blonde Bristol student was called to the Diary Room at around 3:30am to be told of the decision. The other housemates were told of the decision at 9.30am.
The housemate, who says on the Big Brother website that she has no time for people who do not live up to her high standards, was removed from the house without further contact with the others.
Angela Jain, who heads the Big Brother commissioning team at Channel 4, said the word was used 'carelessly rather than maliciously', but she said it was 'clearly racially offensive'.
In a statement the Commission for Racial Equality said: 'We're relieved that Channel 4 has acted quickly. This incident will show everyone that racism must never be tolerated in any way, shape or form.
'We can see from this incident that there is no stereotype of a racist, they come from all walks of life, education and social background.
'Two series of Big Brother, two racist incidents - this just shows how prevalent racism is in Britain today.'

 it was the principle of it not the fact that its BB, the point its political correctness gone mad!!! :p
This is an example of a reaction to fear. The programme makers are making an example out of Emily and using her as a scapegoat due to pressure from the regulator Ofcom to adhere to the political correctness set out in their code for broadcasters. They want to make Ofcom happy, no matter what lunacy comes from their demands, as without pleasing their regulator Big Brother would lose lots of money and potentially be taken off air. They are a business after all.
This isn't a moral or intelligent reaction from 'Big Brother'. It's one made from fear and peer presure, hoping the dumbed down viewers won't see straight through it. The herd mentality directs the show.

It also sends a message out to 'society' that the merest utterance of an unfavourable word of phrase results in bannishment!!! They do these things to subliminally influence our subconscious.
Where does it end?

Personally I think it's racist. I don't watch big brother so I don't know the context. Nigger is sometimes used as another word for 'dude' or 'guy' or 'person', so it really depends on the context of whether it was used as a racist joke - or just a term of endearment. Personally I don't find racism whether jokey or not permissable because it is sending out the wrong message who do not understand that this may be just a 'joke' it may imply that this sort of language is 'ok' when it isn't.
What is different about the word nigger is that it is sometimes used as a harmless term - what this means however is that not everyone understands when it is acceptable to use and when it isn't. 'you, nigger' doesn't sound acceptable to me whereas 'my nigger' might be.
But when you're on telly you have to have some control over what you are saying to masses of people - if it's a questionable, don't say it, don't allow it.
I mean I am completely against ridiculous things like changing baa baa black sheep to baa baa rainbow sheep and other politically correct sillyness. But for the black community it can't be seen as though we are relaxing to racisim.
Realistically, racist slurs can only really be identifiable as racist by the person who belongs to that race - a black person can't say whether a white person would be offended by a certain white racist slur, and white people can't decide what a black or asian person might be offended by. I'm not saying that everyone shouldn't have an opinion, they should, but the most significant opinion should be of the community the slur was aimed at.
But I agree with John, I threw out mine long ago.;)

load of tosh, bb is a moronic presence plaguing our screens for the summer silly season. racism, so what, its a part of life everyday, look at islamophobia, arab bashing, jew bashing. i listen to rap, all my life, since public enemy, 2pac etc. its has many meanings, i have black friends, they call me nigga ( must be my nose, lol), and i am indian. they use it anotehr term for bro, as in my nigga etc. nigger is offensive to blacks, when whites say it, but its used by everyone in the music/film of rap. see 2pac had a better version,
N.I.G.G.A = Never Ingorant Getting Goals Acomplished.
nigger comes from negro, to be black. nagra, negro, nero, molina, moreno, mourinho are all the similar meanings, they all mean black/dark.

Sometimes I think this country has gone mad. Offensive language has to be intended offensively to be offensive. And sometimes it is the stupid white asses in charge who perceive racism where none is intended.
A relative of mine, who happens to be white though I do have black relatives too, chose his secondary school, which was out of his catchment area but it was his preferred choice. He attended the school, which was somewhere between 95 and 98% Asian students because the facilities, reputation and education was of a higher standard. After leaving school, he and a friend were on a drunken night out in the town in the south of England.
They went into a take away place and a group of Asian boys started goading them and picking a fight. With drink involved the two took on the group. The police arrived and arrested him and his friend though the others who had started the affray were let off or absconded (not sure which)
Getting back to the white dominated police station the desk Sergeant threatened to charge with racial abuse or under some racial law (not sure which). My relative said the fight had nothing to do with the racial origin of the people and basically told the desk Sgt he would have a difficult job pinning a racist tag on the case, due to the fact that he had attended through CHOICE a local mainly Asian populated school and the take-away place's cctv would confirm who started throwing items at whom.
He spent the night in cells sobering up and was released without charge in the morning. But he was indeed lucky cos the white police who I think are mainly racist c***s themselves would have tried pinning him with the racist tag, because they dont want to feel alone in their biggotted attitudes.

When I heard that about big brother I just thought oh no not again. I am going to watch it tonight. I am all for everyone being treated with respect, but at times things can be blown way out of context. When you look at all the innocent people being slaughtered with this so called war on terror and only the minority of people feel its wrong, then something like that happens on big brother and it causes more people to react - strange world we live in

misscpb good point. racism on tv, then you get this we are not racist people, etc. when its palestine, then look at those islamic extremists, the poor israelis, all innocent. its true the different attitudes to these two subjects is very apparent, when you look at the reactions. palestinians are not fighting primarily for religous reasons, but for political. did the irish fight for catholics, or freedom from the english? watch shariah tv, shows muslims from palestine in all their colours. i know this sounds shallow, but when white westerners see white palestinian christians, jews, muslims, all united against israeli's, it smashes their programming. they might develop feelings, lol
