Hey Guys

I've been reading Freud - about the Id, Ego and Superego. Maybe I've got the whole Freudian philosophy wrong, but: The ego, in Freudian thought, simply means the 'I' - the developing us.

The Id means the 'It' - the primitive part of us, that wants what it wants, and will do anything to get it. It's the baby screaming for the immediacy of food, because it hasn't learned to wait, and thinks waiting/abandonment will lead to death. It's the rage that wants to destroy, to get what it wants. The red behind the eyes.

The superego is the critical parent, always judging us, always judging others. A superego that's too harsh can lead to real rage; real despair; real agony, so that one will do anything to gain approval; silence the nagging voice.

The New Age, and the Illuminati(?) in general seems intent on destroying the ego. The New Age sees the ego as a terrible thing , to be overcome, in order to gain 'Nirvana'. Illuminati thought/symbolism/ritual(?) seems to contact the Id, with pictures of instant gratification, endless violence, get-what-you-want-or-you'll-die-a-loser, type thing.

The superego is shown by really harsh Govt rules that you 'must' obey to be a good citizen. Gain 'parental' approval while criticising/gatekeeping your fellow citizen. Collapse the ego - the 'I' - and you leave humanity wide open to the Id and the Superego. Which would mean a group of undefined people, following desire/rage/perceived immediate need blindly, and obeying a 'parental' Govt, with no thoughts of 'I' in between - no individual free thought, approval of self, and maturity, etc etc.

The ego's a good thing. We need to take back the 'I'; recognise the Id and the Superego for what they are, and thus reduce/eliminate their power over us.

Maybe real Freudians will disagree with the above; but that's what I got from it.

I think it would depend on if you believe the goal is to become one with God conscousness and the ether or if you believe we are in the material realm for a good reason. Freud got a lot wrong no doubt, but his idea of id and ego seems to make sense by observation.
