I think that for the most part, one of two main scenarios is probably correct;
Either the United States financial crisis was orchestrated by a clandestine group of individuals who deliberately took away our security, futures, and to some, our homes;
OR
We had people in charge of our lives and well being who were completely and totally incompetent and didn't have a f%$#@ing clue what they were doing or how to handle the most basic mathematical concepts.
So which theory frightens you more?

Replace United States with global. They weren't even clandestine! They were only clandestine to the mainstream media and it's passive news addicts.

Frightens? No.

The truth is now so far in the open that reality deniers are having an increasingly tough time in justifying their arguments.

Important is that the criminals responsible for manufacturing this "crisis" are not rewarded with even more power.

The answer has to be more localization / decentralization of power and responsibility. More accountability.

Just got off of a VERY long night shift and should have clarified that I realize the simple fact that we are all on this web site means that we know this isn't that simple, and I acknowledge that this happened because we as citizens fell asleep at the wheel. Of course I also am aware that this is a global catastrophe.
I guess what I should have conveyed is that when I see asses like Paulson and Bernanke and Greenspan pulling their "Aw Shucks" routine, it infuriates me, because if that is the case, then how the hell did they ever convince the powers that be that they were smarter than everybody else in the whole damn world and not to pay any attention to what should have been becoming painfully obvious.

What you shouldn't do is get caught up in the battle, just understand that they can only make these mistakes/decisions because we (you and I) let them and walk away.

We can discuss wither the milk was spilt accidentally or if someone smashed the glass, but if i didn't pour it in the first place there wouldn't be a problem.

As posters come on here and say, "We allowed this to happen, " I don't see at this point how we could possibly stop them. It's all good and well to say on a forum, "We should stop them!" I honestly don't know how, REGARDLESS of whether they did it deliberately or are really that stupid. (Highly doubtful)
As they have sucked out our wealth, what resourses do we have left to change it with?

The financial crisis is just another power contraction; a consolidation of power.
