I was hanging out with a friend and he said to me how he liked the show, "universe" on the history channel. I said to him, the history channel is the most blatenly biased station on all of tv. He insisted that the universe was filled with good information and wasn't biased, so i let it slide. I went home that night and turned on the tv.

YOU GUESSED IT! There was an ad for an upcoming universe episode and it said..."Its not a matter of if, but when a comet with hit the earth and destroy it and all of us who live here".

Well that was depressing, but it got better. Then came a Global Warming commercial where a cowboy criticized anyone who still uses oil, pointing to a field of windmills that wind power is the way of the future.

But it seriously did not stop there, then came the trailer for the day the earth stood still. In the trailer a lady asks, why did you come to our planet. Keanu replies, this is not your planet. And then they proceed with a montage of the world being destroyed and people freaking out.

This was enough for me, i pulled out some pliers and ripped out the AV connector for my cable line so now i cant connect it to the cable even if i wanted to. It definitely has been a little difficult just because i like to surf the tv at night before i go to bed. But instead now im supplementing it with writing songs or reading books, watching movies. Its good stuff, you guys need to try it out.

Nice.

My computer was broken for two weeks. That was actually kind of nice. More peaceful for me. Since my room is quite small, if I'm here I'm either using the computer or sleeping. If I wanna read a book I have to get out usually. I cannot concentrate if this thing is on.

Stopped watching TV years ago, the longer you stay away the more insane and fucking unbearable advertisement and news updates become, same with radio. They just chuck symbolism, sound, light and messages at you so fast most goes right into the sub-conscious without even being observed. Range of emotions triggered like a puppet on a string, fuck that shit.

If I want to see a TV program, read a book, watch a movie, play a game, listen to a podcast or album, use software -- I'll find links on a warez forum and download it from Rapidshare, if I appreciate any art or software I download or I make money using software, I'll donate to the artists or developers.

Be the programming; intelligent or dumb, tame or violent, informing or deceiving, the medium TV keeps everyone on their arses like zombies.

Internet is another medium, although interactive with immense choice and personalisation, is it a deeper more complex trap?

I only really watch comedy, adult cartoons, movies and sci-fi on TV. Anything else just makes me sit there criticising its stupidity or severity. (TV is so serious!, life aint). As such, i only really watch it maybe two or three nights a week and dont really watch anything dumb.

I spend more time on the net...but basically doing nothing.....either way propaganda doesnt reach me, it just irratitates me. Cant stand it when people im around insist on watching the news.

I only watch semi reality tv where they make motorcycles and play Texas Holdem or hunt ghosts. Sometimes there is something to watch on the history channel and i love the fiction about the JFK assasination. Amazing that they never mention the dead on shot to his throught before the head shot. Other than that i'm playing chess on line or checking out what is going on here.

You know something that i also came to realize as events led up to this? I think the vast majority of things that are percieved as genuine or real are absolutley faked. Everything on MTV and VH1 is 100 percent staged in my mind (all the reality shows), as well as those reality shows on e! and some other one i cant remember the name it has like housewives of cali or something all that shit is faked too. The more and more i watched the more i was disgusted. So the first step i took was to reprogram my tv to only allow certain channels. For instance i only got:

late night with connan obrien
public access
telemundo (i dont speak spanish either)
tmc i think it is, they play alot of movies

but it all culminated and its all out the window now. HAHA! Its awesome, im about to watch what the bleep do we know, down the rabbit hole, the quantum edition, its like 3 hours long RIDICULOUS! everything have a good night! Peace love and harmony

Think it was that film the Lost Boys Was watching it years ago - The whacky Grandad says to the boy - He just reads the TV guide magazine then he knows what's on and there's no need to watch TV LOL I laughed so much at that and never thought I'd find myself doing it. You can even ween yourself off the TV guide in time. (It was like a daily ritual of mine reading TV guides as well as watching TV)

Only bother when it's full moon and other special dates now ;)

I have stated on another thread that I watch 70 plus hours of TV every week.

I know all about subliminals and the dumbed down agenda of it. Because I KNOW this I do not believe it can dumb me down or fool me into it's propaganda.

To me, it is just an entertainment box and nothing else.

I recently watched an action film called 'Taken' starring Liam Neeson. It was one of the most violent, braindead films I have ever seen.

It was also highly entertaining, and I still haven't deliberately killed an insect for over 10 years.

There is nothing wrong with TV, as long as you know and can rise above it's malevolent agenda.

I sold my big screen about a year ago and bought an AK-47, magazines and lots of ammo. And yes the (revisionist) History Channel sucks.

I watched the new James Bond (utter bollox) film at a friends recently, then a dumb cartoon about an Elephant that had loads of stashed drugs inside it, and the CIA, junkies etc where all after this poor Elephant, it was sad.

He has boxes full of DVDs, all the latest films and none look any good! FFS!

Then family have asked me to go the Cinema many times and I say what's the film and the plot? and when they tell, that's enough I've not been the Cinema since the Doors movie about 91 or 92.

I have the same problem finding any music that's worth a listen, but don't get me started on that.

70 plus hours is lot!

70 plus hours without TV and doing other activities would be a big win I reckon...

ooooo yeah I totaly agree
We are just a result of evolving bacteria on this spinning rock, one day we will realise that. but I fear it will be when mother nature shruggs her back and clenses herself.
