I'm guessing these probably do work as they only supply to the military and law enforcement agencies. I expect there'll be a lucrative black market in these things soon. ;)

Other than that, maybe people could be coached in "mind over matter" ways of resisting these things? If it can be done for walking barefoot over hot coals, it should be possible for tasers too.

No I think in the UK the taser plan has been scrapped. It was piloted in ten districts but I think there are now no plans to widen their use.

People keep wondering about taser resistant clothing, the fact is that the taser consists of two steel projectiles whihc can pierce rubber clothing, the only thing that can't be pierced will be too cumbersome to wear. However, the idea is the wrong way around. Someone should produce a vest which doesn't resist the taser but sends a stronger charge back to the officer concerned.

It's not the piercing that is the issue, Thor Shield clothing is conductive and dissipates the energy. The makers will only supply the stuff to the military and police, so that's a pretty good indicator to me that it works.

Oh god, it seems I was wrong. I'd read somewhere straight after the pilot scheme that the plans to continue would be scrapped.. it's a story i followed closely because I wrote an article on it. So I stopped worrying. And hey presto, looks like we'll be getting more and more Tasers.

I remember David saying 50,000 in the Howden speech. I'm sure he's right that every copper in the country will be issued with one of these eventually. Probably PCSOs and traffic wardens too, with minimal training. :mad:
