Hi Everyone

Has anyone noticed the wonderful feeling from this forum, and indeed people seem to be opening up more to to share their experiences and true beliefs with others, as opposed to holding back.

I have noticed a lovely feeling here. ;)

Yes, its was worthwhile the mods coming down firmly on the disrupters at the beginning, as it is starting to be the type of forum most here want. I've noticed some really good discussions getting underway and a lot of sharing of knowledge.

This is "THEM" (or should I call it "IT") talking! Yes, the good people can create something great and the goons can create something hellish. :(

i know what you mean ... its much better than the other one... although the other one used to be similar... but it was attacked and the mods kind of stepped down and let the vultures have it... there are still some good posters there but i think they should just chat here and leave the bullshitters over there to debunk each other.

there are still posters over here trying to do it, a few that are even acting quite pleasant, but over time they will start to show their true faces and will be figured out...

Back in the golden days of the USENET, before the World Wide Web came into being as we know it, there was a newsgroup called alt.flame, which is still there as far as I know. On that group people used to make it their practice to abuse each other and generally provoke havoc. Since everyone was there for the same reason, you can imagine it got quite ugly.

alt.bigfoot and alt.syntax.tactical were two other groups that were formed for the explicit purpose of being a home to provocateurs whose delight was found in causing newsgroups to implode. Verbal terrorists, you might say. I was on those groups, but didn't participate much in the "invasions" as they were called. (except one exquisite instance on rec.pets.cats, involving one Sharon Harmon)

To make a long story short, he who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Someone (Robert Trent? Wilf Leblanc?) thought it would be a good idea to invade alt.flame, and before you knew it an all-out flame war ensued. alt.bigfoot was consumed in the conflagration, and became a piece of internet lore. Now, it is interesting to note that it was not the quality of the alt.flamers' posts on alt.bigfoot that destroyed alt.bigfoot (strong and free). Rather, it was their sheer volume. Since alt.bigfoot "members" refused to give in to pressing the "c" key (which marks all posts as read in trn, the threaded news reader), they were forced to wade through megabytes of garbage from the fLamers to get to their own posts. Sigh. What a horrible mess it was.

If you have come here to cause trouble, sgt_rock, you might find some. This goes for albie, KOTM, etc. You might find the boards you frequent to be filled with garbage of immense volume. It's not hard to trace your steps.

Now, this is not a threat on my part. Rather I am citing the universal law of attraction. What you put out comes back ten or a hundredfold.

Cheers, mate.

I agree, I have never been able to have proper discussions with such a large contingent of people, untill this forum came along. I have exactly 4 friends which I can disscus these sorts of things with, and I'm part of another forum which is an exellent one, but this one provides a much larger demographic of people and interests, new ideas, learning new things, etc.

When I first came here and looked at some of the posts, there were some real wankers posting and I thought; oh, here we go...
But now, I'm real glad at the way things turned out and the moderators have done a great job. Well done.

Zero tolerance, eh? That's a catchy kind of phrase isn't it? I think I might have heard it somewhere before. Hmmm, no I can't think off the top of my head. Anybody help me out here?

Hi There

I just now choose to ignore anything that I feel is just a waste of my time or energy with regards to insults or attacks. I truly believe that what comes around goes around.

why not just shoot offenders?

I will gladly dust off my trusty "Lee Enfield" and kill anything for the greater good of the Empire. I have taken to shooting eggs whilst still in the nest. They're not so tricky to hit and one bullet usually takes care of all of the buggers!
