I saw this film last night. A great documentary about child sexual abuse
in the catholic church.

It was nominated for an Oscar in the last Academy Awards but Al Gore's film
"won" instead. In my opinion this is the film that should have won.
In some cases children were (are) being raped in their own homes! I especially
found the shock registered on the faces of the victims' parents when they
found out what was happening to be very moving.
I didn't realize this before but over 100,000 catholics have come forward to reveal
instances of this happening to them and this is likely only a small percentage
of what is really going on.
And, the film makers followed the trail all the way to the vatican.
I recommend the film.

Shoot! I'm disturbed by it already. This kind of thing has a crippling effect on me (cruelty to animals also). I'll have to numb myself a little bit before hand. A nice bottle of Cabernet should do the trick...
Thanks for the recommendation, Graf.
Did you get it at the video store?

You're welcome, tin.
Yes, I rented it at a local video store. You can also buy it online.
I think it's very good that at least some of the evil of this "church" is being
made public.
The media has made some mention of this situation but it appears to be worse
than they have made it out to be. The media has also falsely implied that the
situation has been brought under control  but this film shows that it hasn't.

I watched this DVD and, like Graf, I highly recommend it. It's simply brilliant. It affected me so deeply that it has taken me this long to post a response without being too emotional about it.
The extent of dogma is heartbreaking. The devastation the victims of molestation is so raw. If you have a tender heart, be sure to have a full box of tissues nearby.
Pope Benedict, the sick bastard, was in charge of the department that was to monitor the activities of the grown men that raped and sodomized children. He failed them and their families hopelessly because instead of taking these sick priests out of service, they simply moved them from parish to parish. How utterly pathetic, you sick creep.
If you are a truth seeker, this film is a must.

L.A. cardinal apologizes in sex-abuse payout
http://www.globalfailure.com/images/cardinalrogermahoney.jpg
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Cardinal Roger Mahony apologized Sunday to the hundreds of people who claim to have been sexually abused by Roman Catholic priests, acknowledging that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' $660 million settlement will not buy back their childhood.
Raymond Boucher, an attorney representing the plaintiffs, said the settlement, which involves 508 alleged victims, is expected to be finalized Monday morning.
About $227 million of the $660 settlement will be covered by insurance, Mahony said. Another $60 million will come from Catholic religious orders named in the complaints.
The settlement is by far the biggest payout in the Roman Catholic Church's sex-abuse scandal.
The archdiocese will have to sell some property and borrow money to pay its share, the cardinal said. But the deal "effectively ends all of the litigation involving the Archdiocese of Los Angeles," he said.
As part of the settlement process, the Los Angeles archdiocese released documents that showed a pattern of denial: Priests accused of sexual misconduct took sick leave, were sent to therapy or transferred to other parishes, and most were allowed to continue in the ministry for years after the first accusations.
Mahony said "almost all" of the priests or brothers involved were eventually convicted of crimes, and most of the cases took place before he became the archbishop of Los Angeles in 1985. Some of the cases date back to the 1940s.

OMG they are rife with this shit. Just saw the trailer, been trying to get hold of the film but no-one seems to have posted it yet.
Anyone seen Conspiracy of Silence? Exposes those dirty fuckers in washington abusing kids all over the place, getting caught and trying to cover the whole thing up. Bloody awful, but good on the film-makers for getting into the thick of it to get the message out to the world!
