I was out last night and I couldn't help but notice that the local burly dressed in black bouncers were wearing armbands..it instantly reminded me of Nazi armbands that I had seen in pics and footage on TV

It was difficult to see actually what these things were or represented so I asked one of the guys and he shown me his which was his ID in a plastic sleeve worn on an armband..he seemed a bit disgruntled and when I told him it reminded me of a fascist regime, he seemed to agree but could not say too much.

I find most of these guys are very good at their job and others can be 'over the top' when the going gets tough and the subliminal in this attire strongly reminds me of a sign of fascism...It really abhors me to see the way our youth are having to grow up in this tiptoe totalitarian society :(

So it wasnt a nazi armband, just an armband that held an ID. I am afraid that there is no similarity at all as the nazi armband was used as a group identity but what that guy used was just to identify himself to anybody who may need to know if he was qualified to do his job.

Its a new law introduced so it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be sinister, its not the #1 thing on my mind though lol.

New Law??

I can imagine private security guards (with armbands) overseeing the new Community Service proposal of orange high visibility vests to be worn with the Community Payback logo on.. very reminiscent

I managed to get a pic..this numbskull in the pic was watching a group of people that were basically having a good time and had gestured something to them although I could see nothing untoward happening....how appropriate these armbands look now and how are you supposed to see the details on the card

They've been wearing their IDs on their arm for several years now. Makes more sense than being on a badge clip that can get lost in a skirmish.

Only fairly recently around here but I reckon in a skirmish this would be more of a potential hazard with the armband being grabbed.. I think it is more symbolic than anything or why would they change the previous system?

Ah, in Liverpool it's been for quite a while. They also have in-ear radios now that are across the city centre, not just their own venue. I think it's linked in with the police...

I just wonder what it will be like in a few years time for when the next generation are about...I know some 'doormen' can have a very difficult job to do at times and some are very tolerant but the inclination by the authorities is to show a 'zero tolerance' attitude and implement more sophisticated big brother technology...prob tasers eventually because they are not interested in the root cause of problems....they like to exacerbate situations to implement more measures that take away people's liberty..

With exception (and I know a few decent long-time doormen), current security staff are a-holes who like to throw their weight about. I take pleasure from talking down to the arrogant ones when I arrive at a club to to a personal appearance. The ones who swagger and annoy me are the ones I make clear and guard the stage and go fetch me stuff lol.

:D

The problem I find with door staff now is that the venues just employ young meatheads who don't have the mental capacity to assess a situation and deal with it in an appropriate way - they just like to kick the shit out of people in the street and that disgusts me. People die on club steps that way, including innocent young lads who get in the way.

LOL- agreed!! They're a bit like wanna be policemen, the 'traffic-wardens' of the country, the one's who want a uniform and authority/status but cant cut it in the forces. (not that i condone the forces Lol).
We have one at work, he's got a uniform and epilettes and strutts about like he's got authority, (he's just crew on a ferry lol) with all the attitude, ego and verbal diorreah, yet im sat in the cash office selling tickets and have more qualifications, intelligence, understanding and common-sense than he has in his left toenail! :D:rolleyes:
Im embarrassed for him most of the time. He wanted to be in the police but they turned him down!! lol!!

It amazes me how many young girls are attracted to these muppets..normally fake tan, binge beer gut, streaked bleached hair and no personality type (the women)..

Today they're wearing armbands, tomarow they're killing Jews. :D

Seriously though, I doubt a stupid armband is much to worry about. There's far bigger fish to fry.
