View Full Version : I think I'm being watched...

I noticed something on the way to work today, that the symbol for bus company Arriva looks very much like an eye and it's something we all see every day (and most people on this site constantly notice).
Nobody really likes being watched, you know that horrible feeling that someone is watching you. Wether you conciously recognise it or not, the unconcious mind does, it recognises this shape as an eye and at some level convinces itself that it IS an eye.
Not sure if I'm making sense here but the bones of it is: Unconciously, due to all the eyes TPTB plaster everywhere, we're becoming much more nervous/anxious beings.
Does anyone agree? (or even know what I mean?:p)

I'm in a arriva bus daily, don't really feel like being watched though.
I don't believe all eye symbols are evil.
Try to change your perception and see if anything changes.

I wish to say that I am 'uncovered' about once every two weeks or so...If I had my way, I would never leave my 'abode', but as it is I gather that this world is filled with asses!

Hi,
Thanks,
I wasn't pointing at Arriva in particular, more that when I noticed the symbol it got me thinking!
I guess your right about them all not being evil... I just feel so anxious most days. Not sure what's wrong with me

What 'Element' do you think you are?

There's just a lot of inspiration around the globe, symbols can be bad or good, depending on your own perception.
If you feel anxious you could look at your life situation(job, school),diet, exercise etc etc.
I would see those things as a better explanation to trouble then symbols, because symbols are neutral.
What 'Element' do you think you are?
It changes all the time...;)
I'm stable, so I guess it's earth today....:D

lol ya just need to look at all the cameras to know you are being watched.
in edinburgh you are seen over 400 times a day on camera. most if not all cameras have mics and speakers to listen and even speak to you.
there are also cameras installed with this "infant noise" that is basically a dog whistle for humans that hurts those that are near. these are mostly outside shops and stores.
we have cameras in trees, high up on buildings, on every corner in the city centre.
on our buses the're at least 9 cameras up and down stairs.
whenever there is a crime, even just graffiti, instead of cleaning it up etc they will instantlt intall a camera.
that to me gives the "watched" feeling. however myself personnally im not to affected (to be honest neither is anyone though their reason is ignorance and lack of attention to even know this is happening), tho for me its because i know where every camera is in the city centre and most surrunding areas. edinburgh is a city that once you know it like the back of your hand you can avoid shit like this.
for a while i was do graffiti pieces called "blind spots" where i would spray a target with the word blind spot around it, they were mostly under cameras or just out of sight. was mtly for a laugh tho i have seen a few people stand on or around them laughing.
anyway sorry if i went a bit off subject, but in the end its not the pictures of eyes that give the feeling of being watched, its those lil eyes in the skies that no one is even noticing are becoming a common place on every street in a city or town.
and now they are beginning to use those probe cameras that can float and have all the fancy gadgets to further impose on our privacy. i promise if i ever see one of those i will smash the shit out of it.

The psychological affect of going about daily business knowing that we are being watched will alter our habits while out and about. This will eventually spill out into other areas of our life, suppressing the spontaneous actions that define our character. These things will change us all on some level.
OP, if you are worried about being watched, I wouldn't look into what ubiquitous computing has got in store for us.
In my dreams I invented an autonomous flying robot with a spray dispensing system and programmed it with the locations of all the local cameras. Off it went, spraying over all the lenses during the night. Guess what, the thing ran for one month without being charged and carried enough spray paint to blank out my town 15 times over. Nice!

This used to concern me more, but it leads to not leaving the house which is precisely what tptb want. I prefer to stop & take pictures of them now, just incase there's a human watching at the other end.....Give them something to think about for a change.

The cameras really do seem like tenticles of some overbearing monster...
What are our rights here? Can we ask for any footage showing our image to be destroyed?

Good one - I like it. I agree with what you say about tptb. I remember reading about this somewhere a while back. How peoples habits can be permanently affected by the cameras even when not in the presence of them.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm in a very small minority here but, y'know, I've never really given a damn.
Hope they enjoy the show!

This is very true, and psycology is what is it all about. the psycology of "fear"
and the inertia and oppression that result from it. In my opinion there are so
many of these bloody cameras they virtually begin to cancel themselves out!
I think we must continue to be strong, and unaffected by the PTB's attempts
to intimidate us!;)
